@Telstra It’s slow. Always has been. Only improved temporarily when nobody was visiting. Just two bars of 4G. It’s the main street of one of the busiest towns on the NSW South Coast.

I worked for @Telstra for almost a decade. Customer service wasn’t perfect, but I worked with people genuinely trying to get it right. It’s embarrassing to see how far they’ve regressed since then.

@SkyNewsAust Is it true the outrage was due to the technical side of Telstra being handed over to contractor companies in India, and the “Telstra” mangers who look after this area are also located in India!? There are very few Australians left to work on our own network here is Australia!

The government’s big idea for fixing telco failures? Slap them with a $7.3 billion spectrum renewal tax — almost double what Telstra considered fair value — then threaten massive fines for triple-zero outages. Gartner analyst Khurram Shazad said it outright: this can do the opposite of strengthening resilience. Telcos are already stuck with stagnating revenue growth. These inflated spectrum fees just crush their margins harder. So they do the obvious thing under pressure. They stop spending on actual redundancy. No secondary backup power systems at base stations. No automated routing failovers. No diverse fibre backhaul paths. Capital expenditure gets deferred instead. The core network becomes brittle. One software glitch or timeserver ****-up and failures cascade into proper disasters. High spectrum costs simply extract the economic surplus from the sector. Networks look faster on paper because of the shiny new bands. In practice they are significantly less resilient when it actually matters. When the next outage hits and the “improved” networks fall over anyway, who gets the blame?

@Telstra 4/6 5. "It's extremely frustrating" are you now telling customers how how they are feeling? Paragraph 3 6. Networks are large and complex" Oh really. I thought it was string and tin cans. 7. "invest significantly in resilience" obv not working / bad investing.

@Telstra yeah man that apology isn't going to pay my internet and phone bill though, which you just raised Again. frankly ridiculous and that's not even to point out that the stupid service is down AGAIN today

  • HappyPawsTreats
    Lynn Phillips (@HappyPawsTreats) reported

Just got an email from Telstra. Couldn't copy the image, so this is the body of the mesasage. An "apology". That's all. These people aren't serious AND they're cheap .... "Sorry we let you downLast week we let you down, and I am sorry for that. An issue in our mobile network caused significant disruption to our customers and to Australians. We know how much people rely on us to keep in touch, do their work, run businesses and stay safe. It's extremely frustrating when mobile services aren't available, and we're deeply sorry for the impact this had on so many people. Networks are large and complex, and we invest significantly in the resilience of our network. When something goes wrong, we're committed to taking accountability, giving you clear information, and fixing issues as quickly as possible. We understand what caused the issue and will complete a full investigation and take what we learn to make our network stronger. You have my commitment on that. More details about what occurred are available on our network outage webpage, including if you want to get in contact or make a complaint. We've also seen some reports of customers receiving calls from fraudsters trying to take advantage of this moment. Please be extra careful of calls you receive from people claiming to be from Telstra. If you're unsure, hang up and call us directly. We take our responsibility as Australia's largest telco extremely seriously. Thank you for your patience as we worked through this, and for the trust you place in us. We don't take it for granted. Vicki Brady, Chief Executive Officer, Telstra📷"

A reminder that for the half-yearly fiscal report of 2025/26 Telstra posted $1.2B in profit. For HALF A YEAR. But the best they can do when their national network is crippled for their back-end ****-up is a half hearted shrug and a milquetoast "oopsie" email.

  • andrewrdn463

@Telstra All Tesltra customers need compensation for the outage - the phone bill for that month period needs to be waived and a payment of about $500 given, Vicki Brady is on $8 million a year!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CUSTOMERS SUFFERED A LOT WHILE SHE WAS PLEASURING HERSELF OVERSEAS.

@Telstra telstra, charge premium prices for a half rate network. you have had years to get rid of all the single point of failure network issues, yet it keeps happening. remember when a small fire in chatswood telstra building took out the whole SMS network?
