  • imo_weg
Imogen Wegman (@imo_weg) reported from Hobart, Tasmania

@Telstra Having now left home to get to work, I seem to have data again - either it's been sorted in the last 15 mins or I'm on a different tower now. The boost outage link leads to the telstra outage page...

@digitaltasmania @Telstra Allens Rivulet. Has been down since yesterday and patchy for several days before. We rely on it heavily as we get our phone, internet and Wi-Fi calling on our mobiles through it. We live in a black spot so can not be contacted at home till it is restored.

  • She_Noob_
SheNoob ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ | Bad Luck Charms ๐Ÿ˜ (@She_Noob_) reported from Hobart, Tasmania

Well I think I'll be staying with Telstra after all, after the garbage customer service I've received from @Optus this week. #notimpressed As a customer service rep myself, I know the value of good service. That ain't it, chief.

  • parisba
Dr Paris (he/him) (@parisba) reported from Hobart, Tasmania

Right, cancelling my @Telstra account (which Telstra linked to a TIO complaint about an entirely unrelated prepaid SIM) has allowed them to refund me without validating my identity against the unrelated account. Great success!

  • imo_weg
Imogen Wegman (@imo_weg) reported from Hobart, Tasmania

@Telstra I'll be in the South Hobart area most of the day but hopefully not in the area that's not working - there are others on the community Facebook saying their mobile reception is also out. Probably is an ongoing issue that needs checking.

Starting to get pissed off with Telstra. Why do we pay for a service that very rarely reaches the down load speed you pay for. Is it a con. Is it a CRIME, is it false ADVERTISING.

  • annbag2
Ann Sproule๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ˜ท (@annbag2) reported from Hobart, Tasmania

FMD @Telstra decades of sticking with you. Internet down since Sunday. Your messenging assist is hopeless. 7+ users.on my account and I get cut off waiting for assistance.

  • CountessAu

@Internode I'm not going to spend over an hour on the phone doing the same things for the same result which is dodgy connection and the THIRD dud #FetchTV box you've sent me. I'm lodging a formal complaint with #TCO tomorrow then moving over to Telstra.

  • annbag2
    ๐Ÿ’งAnn Sproule๐Ÿ”ฅ (@annbag2) reported from Hobart, Tasmania

Hey @Telstra. My account restrictions were supposed to be fixed within two hrs. Three hours later and 30 f'n years of poor service don't hold well for me. If I did this to my clients they would go elsewhere. As will I. Finally.

  • parisba
Dr Paris (he/him) (@parisba) reported from Hobart, Tasmania

@up_banking trying to get a refund out of Telstra into my Up account via BSB/account number, but they claim the BSB is incorrect (even if they look under Bendigo etc.) Not explicitly your problem, but any ideas?

  • The_McJones
Tim McJones (@The_McJones) reported from Hobart, Tasmania

@JeanLeggett I donโ€™t know of any that โ€œjust workโ€ in both countries but I know both Vodafone AU and Telstra (Australia telecoms) have roaming support for NZ but that is like an addition $5-10 per day.

  • _grassy

@Telstra Only number I have. Have been talking to someone, putting through to someone else who can possibly help, now on hold.

@Telstra You are the most expensive telco by far, when things go so badly wrong, compensation is expected. No network is perfect but when you go down nationwide we expect you to step up and show us you really understand the problems you caused people.

@peters_malcolm Do you really think that government owner Telstra was better and would have modernised better? The company that opposed accountability, tried to slow the progress of mobile telephony, resisted competition, fought to frustrate services that used the telecommunications networkโ€ฆ.

  • MajorBlipvert
    Nigel Withers (@MajorBlipvert) reported

@VoteLewko Telstra is probably still carrying decades of tech debt. That old stuff has a bad habit of biting from time to time.

    wild (@wild68223259) reported

It was all the go in the 1980s to make up for the inflation created by the Vietnam War and the abrupt increase in oil prices. Thatโ€™s when we got the economic rationalists - tax cuts for the rich, razor gangs for everyone else. Welfare and public service cuts, deregulation of banks and privatisation. Back story is interesting - same folks at work behind the scenes. Yes, GDP went up, but wealth only flowed to the top end. At least Labor under pressure, only semi privatised Telstra and retained controlling shares. Qantas was different. Comm Bank should have at least mostly stayed public -my Mum only had a chance at getting a house because of it, but if we add in subsidies and failures, it has largely cost taxpayers far more and not just financially. It did however, enable operators and shareholders to get rich.
