Fucksake Telstra! It’s Central Suburbia! 3G service between Ashfield and Lewisham? And we’re atop a ridge!!!

@Telstra please confirm here the only way one can pay is beforehand & not bpay after a statement. Your staff use Netflix as a comparison but a phone & data service is completely unlike an entertainment subscription. It’s a false equivalent that is designed to deceive. #cxfail

@Telstra Only yesterday I had extensive dealings with an overseas call centre! Five business days to fix a simple problem that should have been sorted nearly a year ago is why Telstra has such a bad reputation for customer service.

  • mnsbutt
Nafees Butt (@mnsbutt) reported from Sydney, New South Wales

@MichelePlayfair Seriously!!!! And people on the call keep suggesting that "everyone chip in so that Nafees can get a better Internet" as if I chose the cheapest Internet bundle to inflict this pain upon myself. While I am at it, @Telstra, please fix my reception problem.

@Maddy_Pappas_ @startrack Dispatched by Telstra yesterday. Stuffed up today. Disappointing is a silly thing to be, first world problems & all. But they can even tell me when I will get it now.

@Telstra have just spent 2 frustrating hours in your Gold Member online support. I had a major fault on my home internet last month.just need a record length of problem. Why so hard to get?

Am I the only person thinking @Telstra's "5G" mobile network is utter trash? For the last week it's been abysmal. And yes: I've cleared the cache and restarted my device.

@bobbylosbravos @bcurrall80 I get 50GB for $45/month on Telstra thru a pre-paid plan I bought from JB Hi-Fi. They were the only Telstra reseller I could find and I refuse to go to Optus or Vodafone due to terrible experiences in the past.

@bigyahu @vkhosla So many wanted to leave Telstra! Funnily enough when Orange took over Hutch, the place became idiot startup central burning cash like it was confetti (have experienced that twice). They made fun of the Hutch founder for counting tp rolls. He had to come back and right the ship.

@Telstra have you been playing with the mobile coverage on the T4 between Cronulla and Central - it’s progressing to get worst and especially in the tunnels from Redfern you can even get out. :( please fix it!

In spite of not providing a service, @Telstra sure as hell never miss a bill. Is there no end to the agony of #Telco in #Australia. @AussieBroadband @acmadotgov

  • LapTop006

The @NBN tech came. The carrier signal strength is - 15dB. Max is - 10dB. So it's too weak to work. But it's raining, and their test equipment isn't waterproof. So they couldn't check the connection box at the side of the house. So, day off work for zip. @Telstra

@Telstra You have had me as a customer for 7 years. What has changed. Because remember this is all because you decided you want me to have a new relationship with @telstra. I have M existing plan right now

  • bigyahu
alan jones (he/him) (@bigyahu) reported from Sydney, New South Wales

@NickyWill100 @vkhosla I’d been a Telstra customer previously until they launched a startup directly competing with a startup I’d cofounded. They blew out our acquisition cost so much (because they didn’t really care) that they were killing us. So I couldn’t wait to leave them.

  • wheelyweb
Joe Ortenzi 🇨🇦 🇮🇹 🇦🇺 (@wheelyweb) reported from Sydney, New South Wales

@Telstra I’m pretty sure you can’t force me to pay by direct debit. Considering your ineffective customer services, including your inability to effectively train your phone reps adequately, it’s reasonable I want to have some control on payment. Just like I do with gas, power, water etc.

  • JPMasters
JPMasters (He/Him/They/Them) (@JPMasters) reported from Sydney, New South Wales

@lesstenny @RNBreakfast I wasn’t listening this morning, but my thoughts are, rain - our infrastructure never considered there would be rain, mobile coverage infrastructure not keeping up with demand (I am 13km from Sydney GPO on a high point - hopeless with both Telstra and Optus), and NBN no doubt.

  • wheelyweb
Joe Ortenzi 🇨🇦 🇮🇹 🇦🇺 (@wheelyweb) reported from Sydney, New South Wales

Telephony is the only service where the cost has little relation to usage and value. Telstra “gave” me more data every year but my usage needs have not changed. Now I “have” 180gb/ month but have used less than 18gb/month this past year. But they insist I go to a new “plan”

@techAU I attended a conference where the head of the Australian Signal Directorate gave an overview of Cybersecurity risks. He noted circa >64k known vulnerabilities. I wouldn’t wait for it to become a headline… I will be removing all TP-Link, Netgear (Telstra smart modem) from service in my home. Roborock vacuum will need a replacement too, I am looking for a suggestion on that front.

  • BassonBrain
    Brian Basson (@BassonBrain) reported

🇦🇺Australia: @Starlink To Benefit From Telstra’s Dodgy Size Claims Industry data indicates strong growth in Starlink uptake, with retailers reporting a surge in demand and the service’s customer base in Australia doubling in 2025. One in five rural households that switched providers last year chose Starlink, according to market estimates. The shift reflects growing frustration among regional consumers, some of whom say Starlink offers more reliable performance at a lower cost than traditional telco plans. Telstra will be forced to cut back its advertised network coverage by around 1 million square km's following a regulatory crackdown on what the federal government has described as a “mess” of inconsistent and potentially misleading industry claims. Under new rules announced by Communications Minister Anika Wells, telcos must adopt stricter standards for how mobile coverage is measured and marketed—changes that directly impact Telstra, long known for promoting the scale of its network. The revisions will require the removal of an area roughly the size of New South Wales from Telstra’s coverage maps, raising questions about how accurately Australians have been informed about service availability, particularly in regional and remote areas. The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) will introduce a new four-tier system—Good, Moderate, Basic and No Coverage—based on whether a standard mobile phone can deliver a usable service, rather than simply detecting a signal.
