Bring in the Yanks, privatise, create NBN. Telstra stops & gives up. Those that have fibre lucky. The rest of us, too bad, pay for substandard crap! Don’t you just love privatisation.

And that’s the start of the run around. You only provide the service & equipment to access. Not the medium where the faults are.

Madeleine Love (@MCLove2024) reportedWe're paying progressively more taxes, and our services are decreasing. We just got a generic letter telling us our landline phone will be disconnected in 7 months. We used to have copper line which provided a highly reliable service in emergencies, whether power and internet was on, or not. I recall ringing a (surviving) neighbour in the middle of the Marysville 2009 Black Saturday fires. We had a chat while his smoke alarm was going off and the fire was raging outside. Phone through broadband was hopeless whenever the power or internet went down, which happens frequently. Mobiles are useless whenever the internet goes down, and not long after the power goes off. But those copper wire phones were fantastic. You could actually ring the electricity company when the power was off, and tell them that the power was off and could they fix it. I'm not joining the nbn.

1inover1000areFactual (@RogerWi42848146) reported@WhosFibbing Serious outages occurred under the LNP, including failures that blocked Triple Zero, crippled mobile networks, and shut down parts of the NBN. Some were longer, larger, or more dangerous than the recent Telstra event. So please do carry on.

Michael🧙 (@mich___l) reported@sofewcharacters @VoteLewko @2GB873 Yes it is, but Starlink is terrible in cities, built up areas, and areas with lots of tree cover. It degrades pretty significantly in bad weather. It would also be terrible with a cities worth of people connected..... network congestion is a problem for satelite solutions (similar to the mobile network). Getting rid of the nbn network would be a monumentally bad idea.
