@Optus Thanks. I have had several conversations and chats with customer service. I stopped reporting the issues, as it’s mainly nbn issues and it’s really frustrating. Paying $70 a month for the service you can hardly use is just outrageous. Text messages coming through advising outages

A pox on the house of the Australian NBN. This substandard excuse for internet service is pathetic.

@NBN_Australia We have no alternative as there is no way to contact you directly even though this is your issue, my provider has been given no updates for 7 days.

@VodafoneAU poor form guys. Office modem you supplied faulty - 2 weeks of back and forth, 2 hours on hold yesterday, no solution on how to pickup new modem. First day w/ @Telstra NBN today. You lost a loyal customer of 8 years. 7 mobile + NBN connections @VodafoneAU

  • badtastefatboy
Robert Gunner (@badtastefatboy) reported from Brisbane, Queensland

@LennaLeprena @Loud_Lass Never say never. But certainly during the operational life of #nbn I can't see #fibretopremises being beaten by anything else. We're currently on HFC (High Frequency Coaxial) & destined for HFC (Hybrid Fibre Coaxial) but delaying as long as possible because of reliability.

  • offshoredc
dc (@offshoredc) reported from Brisbane, Queensland

@YaThinkN @BreakfastNews Yes and if you continue a curve it becomes a circle and we end up behind ourselves and backwards. The NBN is a palindrome for a reason. It’s as much backwards as it forwards. At times we have the worst broadband service you could imagine

  • dgr_dgr
Daniel Rose (@dgr_dgr) reported from Brisbane, Queensland

@AussieBecka @stufromoz I finally got through! Turns out it's an NBN issue. Technician booked for tomorrow morning!

  • Flansq
Doctor Quim, Medicine Woman (@Flansq) reported from Brisbane, Queensland

@sunrisesister @hazelblackberry Oh yeah. You can probably drop down to a fairly cheap plan. I’m on unlimited, top speed NBN — but I use it. We Stream nearly everything in my house. Sometimes other half will be streaming Netflix in 4K in the media room while I’m streaming on my iPad.

  • SJMcCambridge
Shaun McCambridge (@SJMcCambridge) reported from Brisbane, Queensland

Currently experiencing the single worst customer experience of my life with @TPG_Telecom NBN connection. Wouldn’t recommend, 2 weeks in and still no closer to a solution

  • jerrybr15619298
Craig Acret (@jerrybr15619298) reported from Brisbane, Queensland

@NBN_Australia Think it’s more a Telstra issue as it’s been 15 days with the nbn devices on hold in their warehouse. Thanks for your reply though.

  • badgergloveppt
Jon Cartwright (@badgergloveppt) reported from Brisbane, Queensland

@SanatanaMishra I never wanted a landline, but for years I had to have one to get ADSL. There were no naked ADSL options in our suburb. Ditched it the moment I got NBN. Only my mother in law and robocalls ever used it tbh.

  • Cpt_CBRZY
CBRZY (@Cpt_CBRZY) reported from Brisbane, Queensland

@NBN_Australia has been non existent today. Internet drops every 15 minutes or so and sometimes stays down for 10 minutes. Infuriating to say the least

@Jondoenotmyname Australia Post is a money earner for Commonwealth government (ie not on a ****...) As for NBN well, ours is down for 3 days now and TPG etc just take the money so not sure who to blame more!

  • damienpbuckley

From $55 down to $19.99 on release, Turnbull’s memoir is depreciating faster than the NBN

  • RuaBrithem

The plumber ****** the NBN cable and I am now without wifi and phone. Plumber notntaming responsibility because it wasn’t “regulation”. Waiting to hear back from Optus to see when NBN can come out to fix it.

  • birdnoises

  • damienpbuckley

@jdaalder No for weeks on and off. Twitter especially but certain websites. Tv streaming is fine which suggests this may be an NBN traffic priority issue

@asphotos Science isn't going to help when the system is clogged because the NBN is down and many thousands of people are trying to find workarounds. Telstra in the park has collapsed, and Optus is struggling.

  • twoshedslegit

@xeveriano1 @4mambo My speed went from 40 under the LNP to over 500 under Labor after FREE NBN upgrades. We got free fibre to the premises after the LNP’s ridiculous and stupidly slow fibre to the node

@eevblog @Aussie_BB Been on on Starlink maybe 5 years. I can remember one outage because of a Solarflare. Wireless NBN was every other day. Good old Govt again

  • ddnnddc
    Berry Straw 🍓 (@ddnnddc) reported

ACMA is NOT currently running a spectrum auction for LEO satellite broadband. In December 2025, ACMA decided against auctioning a large amount of expiring spectrum. Instead, they chose to renew the licenses held by mobile operators and NBN. Their reasoning was that auctions could disrupt existing services and slow down new technologies like low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites. Amazon's Project Kuiper is coming to Australia in mid-2026 through a major partnership with NBN Co. This will give Starlink its first real competition in the country, especially in regional and remote areas. This is generally good news for consumers because more competition usually means better prices and redundancy.

Proof of occupancy – this document request is another interesting thing. To ensure the application is from a real resident at the property, NBN sometimes needs proof, like a lease contract or water bills that match the applicant's name and address. However, this process can really delay provisioning. ISPs can check if the LOC ID is empty and see that no service is connected; they could just sign the customer up. If there is an existing service and the name on file doesn’t match, send a message to the new customer that provisioning is stuck for xxx reason. If the name on file matches, they can just hook them up. The process could be so much easier!
