Latest outage, problems and issue reports in Heddon Greta and nearby locations:

  • michaelread1 Michael (@michaelread1) reported from Newcastle, State of New South Wales

My name isn’t Andrew. But thanks to @optus I have access to his full name, home address, email address, passwords, contact number, credit card details and other random bits of information. My situation isn’t solved, and now if I was a bad guy, Andrew’s would have been ruined.

  • ajhill_alan Alan Hill (@ajhill_alan) reported from Newcastle, State of New South Wales

@perthovalman @kevinperry @TheWorldGame @SBS @ALeague @premierleague @Craig_Foster @LucyZelic A cash-strapped FTA network does its best but has no hope of competing with Foxtel (itself scaling back football coverage in the face of its own financial woes) and Optus. I'd blame the government before pointing a finger at SBS.

  • nickintheworld Nick Williams (@nickintheworld) reported from Newcastle, State of New South Wales

@a_choros **** Telstra, marry Vodafone, kill Optus... Truth be told I’d prefer to kill Telstra while screaming **** you and have an ongoing FWB with Vodafone and just leave Optus alone

  • carolduncan Carol Duncan (@carolduncan) reported from Newcastle, State of New South Wales

@joshgnosis I’e tweeted Optus for help/advice, tried online chat twice … nothing.

  • JKRLMazur Julian 🇦🇺 (@JKRLMazur) reported from Cessnock, State of New South Wales

@Telstra Yep. Unfortunately I’m so disgusted with the way I’ve been treated as a customer will see me head to @optus Telstra high prices dont reflect the service you receive from staff when there is a problem. It’s disgraceful. By far the worst telco I have dealt with, ever.

  • michaelread1 Michael (@michaelread1) reported from Newcastle, State of New South Wales

Optus then decided after over 90 mins of explaining myself multiple times to different people on chat, I’d need to wait for a call. That call happened, it was from the wrong department. So they had to transfer me. After 2 hours I got some help. “So what can we do today?” 🤯

  • siobhan_curran Siobhan Curran (@siobhan_curran) reported from Newcastle, State of New South Wales

As an @optus customer I haven’t received any correspondence regarding the data breach and have no idea if my data has been compromised.

  • gjblue Greg Blue (@gjblue) reported from Newcastle, State of New South Wales

@Hillysfarms @Telstra I reckon telstra coverage in metro areas is third after optus and Vodafone, its terrible here in Newcastle

  • tmacca_1996 Thomas McKenna (@tmacca_1996) reported from Newcastle, State of New South Wales

@Optus @7mate take your ads off appearing as every second one! I will never use your service due to this. Biggest pet peeve, waste of money on your marketing side #idiots #advertising

  • mediahunter Craig Wilson (@mediahunter) reported from Newcastle, State of New South Wales

    @CouchNish I can't even watch it. Optus issues. 😡

  • KitaandMat Mat and Kita Clarke (@KitaandMat) reported from Maitland, State of New South Wales

@OeterB @Fozbyte That's what I did! I'm an optus customer so it's included in my plan.

  • MansfieldOwen Owen Mansfield (@MansfieldOwen) reported from Newcastle, State of New South Wales

@Optus Worst service I’ve ever recommend. Have been trying to connect NBN. No one in your call centres seem to know what to do.

  • ReetuMutti Reetu Mutti (@ReetuMutti) reported from Newcastle, State of New South Wales

.@TPG_Telecom Trying to port my TPG no from TPG’s Optus to Vodaphone network. Spent countless hrs calling helpdesk every day, talked to supervisiors, waited days for engineers to investigate. Been waiting 20 DAYS, still not working. This is ridiculous. Fix this!!

  • michaelread1 Michael (@michaelread1) reported from Newcastle, State of New South Wales

@optus can’t call me and I can’t call them because I don’t have either a business or a personal line. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise. Do we have any options that don’t leak peoples private data to randoms in Australia? How absolutely incompetent and stupid.

  • JKRLMazur 🇦🇺Julian 🇦🇺 (@JKRLMazur) reported from Cessnock, State of New South Wales

@Telstra 2hrs this morning wasted with your member chat trying to take out a new contract, long term customer counts for nothing, go on Optus site and as a nobody I got a better deal straight off.

  • ShaneNatalie Shane N. Thompson (@ShaneNatalie) reported from Newcastle, State of New South Wales

@Optus hello, I received spam email this week claiming to be Optus & confirming that I had increased my laptop data usage with Optus. I never increased my data usage. Can you now confirm with me that my laptop/mobile plan hasn’t been changed? Thanks.

  • SophiePearse Sophie Pearse (@SophiePearse) reported from Newcastle, State of New South Wales

I’ve phoned @Optus customer service 3 days in a row and you’ve YET to rectify this issue, despite advising you have. This is incredibly poor form, deplorable in fact 😡

  • carlagrossetti @carlagrossetti (@carlagrossetti) reported from Maitland, State of New South Wales

@Optus Thanks Nard. What causes an outage that only affects webmail?

  • JKRLMazur 🇦🇺Julian 🇦🇺 (@JKRLMazur) reported from Cessnock, State of New South Wales

@recneps51 @Optus @NSW_FairTrading I bpay to telstra also, I know they charge me for a paper bill, which I request but never receive, but I don’t know about the other bit. I’d never allow direct debit, especially Optus, I used to ring them every other month about issues.

Optus Issues Reports

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:

  • 20Dlow D L (@20Dlow) reported

@Optus @RunnerSA18 As previous people have pointed out. We are only just finding out about this data breach now. Days after it has happened. I appreciate you are “contacting everyone individually” but a customer wide communication is imperative. You must do this now.

  • ShpongledHard One More Beer (@ShpongledHard) reported

Imagine the meeting that this line of attack came from lmao "we need to appeal to nationalism and defense to get pressure on the government to save us and make people think this isn't simply an Optus Problem"

  • envirorealism 🌱💧🌴🤑🎓🛶Dirk Gently (@envirorealism) reported

@KimWomenginet Reputable telcos around the world provide identity theft services free to customers who are victims of data breaches. If Gladys is at Optus, I would imagine it is 100% a customer’s problem.

  • MantleFlag Guy Incognito (@MantleFlag) reported

@cameronwilson As an optus customer I havent heard **** from optus. No email, no message. I literally only know what I've seen on twitter. Kelly wants Australia to do her job, because she hasn't ******* done it.

  • DeanRosario Dean Rosario (@DeanRosario) reported

Was only an Optus customer for EPL past few yrs. Thankfully, 100 pts ID not req'd for that. Was with Optus cable internet ~20 yrs, before moving with NBN in 2019. So, let's hope @GladysB organised for Daryl Maguire's tractor to shred all obsolete data. 🤞🏾

  • whambamthkymam nic aintnon 🌻 (@whambamthkymam) reported

@NeevaStephen @Optus Will PM you. This is another issue, Optus have made no attempt to contact customers about the latest issue. They should be providing advice on how people now take action to protect themselves instead all we hear is information via the press. They are a disgrace!

  • iamoctopusinc Octopus Inc. (@iamoctopusinc) reported

@skulzy87 @Optus A friend of mine spoke to Optus on live chat and they confirmed his account has been flagged as compromised but the support agent couldn't tell him what data has been leaked. They said Optus would reach out in 24-48hrs with updates. Not a great response.

  • DaleHof1234 Dale, fangirling PRGuy. Always. 🌈 (@DaleHof1234) reported

Huge sigh of relief because I was with them before this date. The Guardian: "Optus customers dating back to 2017 may be caught up in the massive hack of the telco’s customer database, the company’s CEO has revealed."

  • whambamthkymam nic aintnon 🌻 (@whambamthkymam) reported

@NeevaStephen @Optus Lock down your credit reports if you are concerned. That’s pretty much the only thing thats provided peace of mind, excellent advice from another wonderful Twitter pal. Won’t @ them due to privacy. The perpetrators tried obtaining credit in my name and locking the reports helps.

  • neilw101 Neil Wray (@neilw101) reported

@sophie_walsh9 @9NewsSyd The very least Optus can do now is to let anyone who asks out of their current contract at zero cost to the customer. They have aloud our trust in them to be breached.
