@wallyscr Thanks Aaron. I had been considering getting a dongle or a SIM card or something with Optus just to keep the account (been with them nearly 30 years) but recent events have given me bad juju

@SEggminder @Optus Probably the small cogs in the chain on the phone not getting all the info from the bosses. Doesn't help situation.

If laughable that @PeterDutton_MP suggests the #OptusDataBreach is a problem for the government. It’s an Optus issue about a breach in Optus customer data. Let Optus sort things out and investigate first. #auspol

@HullKiwi I had considered doing something like that. But Optus have let us all down this week so I’m at the point of thinking they can get ******

@aparachick @anna_prole @JustJul77588855 Can't speak for Aussie but TPG own network. Anybody know, do the piggyback players simply use Optus infrastructure but maintain client data on their own system/s.🤔🤔

Arrived in BNE and switched my sim to Optus and was welcomed with a message regarding cyberattack on Optus resulting in customer information being stolen. 😳 wow, no firewalls or any contingencies? Shutting down all my Aus Bank accounts 😑

@RichardKGrump Couple of IT peeps on RN just a moment ago. Of opinion real internal system problems given what Optus has said. 🤔 Real = should NOT have happened as a result of poor system/s.

My partner got the email from Optus and my jaw hit the floor reading it. “Don’t worry the network is fine…but your drivers licence, date of birth, name, email, and phone number have all been compromised”. I can’t think of a *worse* possible breach.

Optus has put out a statement addressing the government criticism of the company. As a customer I’m still waiting for any communication from the company at all. Hello @optus, when do you intend to contact customers? #optushack

@SEggminder @Optus Hackers can duplicate any business header, info, even "security" so closely that it fools a lot of people. They set up their own sites complete with phone numbers. I got hacked that way. I avoid links completely these days. I never call the number sent in these txts or emails.

@southwin28 @Optus I’m still waiting but have discovered Vodafone has a better offer. If Optus wants to keep me as a customer they will now have to match Vodafone

@craigthomler @stilgherrian If I understand it right it’s an Optus CUSTOMER human error or an Optus EMPLOYEE human error. Either way, it’s an Optus company problem and responsibility.

When Australia's @medibank insurer said on Monday it stopped the "precursors" to a ransomware attack, I didn't think it was going to turn into a hold-my-beer moment vis-à-vis the @Optus breach but unfortunately that's where we're at today. Just awful news. #auspol #infosec

@Asher_Wolf I’d like to know why Optus kept our data when we haven’t been a customer for about 5 years. Why wasn’t it deleted within a year, or 2. Email only, nothing else.

The problem I see with the increase of hacking larger organisations is working from home. How many workers from home are using a device supplied by their employer with firewalls and secure connections? I'm not an IT expert but that would be red flags right there. #medibank #Optus

@bengrubb Looks like I need to find another private health insurer...these clowns are as bad as Optus in leaving doors and windows open and just giving away our PII to hackers...they will next claim the attack was sophisticated when it is their stupidity that is the problem

It shouldn't reflect poorly on @medibank that its initial conclusion may have been off about this incident. Post Optus, there's a real thirst for transparency around data breaches, so we as the public should praise that but accept that situations may suddenly change. #auspol
