Latest outage, problems and issue reports in Central Coast and nearby locations:

  • JVizzone John Vizzone (@JVizzone) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

Last year I had my identity stolen including drivers licence details changed, partially at the hands of Service NSW. Good luck Optus victims getting your licence changed. Even when they were part of the fraud I’m still waiting for my new licence.

  • richramo Richard Ramnac (@richramo) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

My conspiracy theory is that Optus paid the ransom, hence why the hacker deleted the data, the threat revoked, with the hacker's change of heart happening very quickly after the first 10,000 customer details were released. #optusfail

  • paulkneipp Paul Kneipp (@paulkneipp) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

@slsandpet With Optus for 10 years. When I moved, I asked them to connect me at the new place. No, they said, we have no service there. Telstra came, the tech pointed and said “that’s an Optus box there”. I was assured that emails would continue for 3 months. Account deleted in 24 hours.

  • trevorlong Trevor Long (@trevorlong) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

If you thought Optus had moved to a Customer focused approach with this whole data hack - think again. I’ve got details of what I think is the most disgraceful lack of attention to the VERY worst affected customer. Just need time to calm down and write it all down

  • just_brash Justin Brash 🏳️‍🌈🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇦🇺🍸📷🐱 (@just_brash) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

Independent financial institutions have contacted me with their concerns about my data warning me if I’m an Optus customer I should take actions now. Yet Optus has made no contact whatsoever. Not good enough @Optus, I’m not making any payments until I hear from you. #Optushack

  • miracleboi Alex Dennis🏳️‍🌈🇦🇺 (@miracleboi) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

@optus my mum's NBN FTTC white NBN box will not get any data thru the line. Have been trying all day to get thru to technical support and that line has been "closed" all day and message is hasn't been helpful. She also has a falls monitor which should be connected but it's not

  • scott86d Scott D (@scott86d) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

I know what's happened with this Optus breach is frustrating for people. However please don't take it out on us working in Service NSW centres. We have instructions at the moment of what we can and cant do in regards to updating your licence.

  • immsollawyers (((Anne ODonoghue))) (@immsollawyers) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

“While Ms Bayer Rosmarin has claimed Optus was victim of a “sophisticated attack”, the government believes the data breach was more likely down to lax security measures at the telecoms giant.”

  • emelinemataia E 🌺 (@emelinemataia) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

Is Optus down or something? Because my network is ‘SOS’ @Optus

  • Roucek . (@Roucek) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

Just banished Optus to the Never Never. #OptusNo #OptusHack #OptusDataBreach

  • Boatyboy1 Boatyboy (@Boatyboy1) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

@Eva_Lishus @Cindy1Miss @Optus Have a look at Amaysim. Uses Optus network, but much cheaper. Although it is 13x 28 day bills per year.

  • miracleboi Alex Dennis🏳️‍🌈🇦🇺 (@miracleboi) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

So wondering how many Optus customers are considering ditching the telco because of the data breach they incurred. Are you an existing Optus customer? Would you consider leaving them?

  • callejap Patricia (@callejap) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

@RavenZech2 @Optus A friend of one who joined Optus 6 months ago has just told me that he’s received no emails from them. Nothing at all. Pretty bad form @Optus

  • morgen_craufurd Morgen Craufurd (@morgen_craufurd) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

@CatPurry9 Optus lobbied ScroteO to water down their security requirements and he -of course-compiled-That’s where the rot originated-big ole surprise!!

  • wheelyweb Joe Ortenzi 🇨🇦 🇮🇹 🇦🇺 (@wheelyweb) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

Everyone is missing a critical item. Why do telcos need all that info when I can fire up an sms service without it. However. Optus is directly responsible for the data spill, regardless of if it was a hack or a breach. it’s their responsibility to manage security of that data.

  • jkalbrechtsen janet albrechtsen (@jkalbrechtsen) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

Damn. Microwave has broken. I blame Optus hack.

  • martyps MARTY 🏳️‍🌈 (@martyps) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

@Optus your app sucks and I’m not waiting on hold for an hour for someone on the phone to tell me I can check it on the app

  • JPMasters JPMasters (He/Him/They/Them) (@JPMasters) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

@lesstenny @RNBreakfast I wasn’t listening this morning, but my thoughts are, rain - our infrastructure never considered there would be rain, mobile coverage infrastructure not keeping up with demand (I am 13km from Sydney GPO on a high point - hopeless with both Telstra and Optus), and NBN no doubt.

  • just_brash Justin Brash 🏳️‍🌈🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇦🇺🍸📷🐱 (@just_brash) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

Optus CEO has said “this [#optushack] is due to bad actors”. You mean like Tom Cruise?

  • fatinpaisal Fatin Paisal (@fatinpaisal) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

I was trying to change my network provider and was trying to do so on a day before the cyberattack but my user experience to do it was pretty bad, and I opt to stay with Optus. Bad timing. Definitely will change to something else soon.

Optus Issues Reports

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:

  • Ausnews_ Dolphin (@Ausnews_) reported

@9NewsAUS @cokeefe9 IT WASN’T A HACK. OPTUS DIDN’T PUT A PASSWORD ON THEIR CUSTOMER LIST

  • Em1lyB1ngham Emily Bingham (@Em1lyB1ngham) reported

@runbeagle #curtindigipr an-online issue example is when some people can’t login to a platform for a few minutes or hours a crisis would be if a large majority of peoples data got leaked much like the Optus stadium incident

  • sanran100 SanTheMan (@sanran100) reported

Hon'ble Minister, would WA consider a change of DL numbers for the Optus hack victims? DOT customer support told me it's not possible. But anybody can use the DL numbers for any kind of scam. What is the WA government's official response to this hack? @Rita_Saffioti #OptusHack

  • EinionT Einion Thomas (@EinionT) reported

    @RonniSalt @Optus Shockingly bad

  • Charamber Amber (@Charamber) reported

Two people from @optus told me my account wasn’t affected by the cyberattack and this morning I found out that I was in fact included in it and they’ve got my name, address, dob, email addresses and my phone number. Super stoked. I also feel like they actually give zero ****.

  • WomanOnTheShore WomanOnTheShore (@WomanOnTheShore) reported

@Chrisactevans @SusanLa69642683 @PaulMeekPerth They are required to keep the ID details for 2 years. It’s more than 2 years since I was an Optus customer. They shouldn’t have kept anything more than my name and account number.

  • GarrettIvo Garrett Mundy (@GarrettIvo) reported

@TheAliceGrey @StassiLane @FoxandtheFeline The communication from Optus has been on par with their regular service delivery.

  • PeteKax Peter Kakolyris (@PeteKax) reported

@Jeremy_Kirk If I was the Optus CEO I'd happily pay $50 mill to make this problem "disappear". That's small change in comparison to what it will cost Optus to rebuild brand and trust.

  • jolly_maryann MJ (@jolly_maryann) reported

@Cyclops_Trader @Optus Also, the ph was still in its box unused when the scammers emailed When I did set it up, took it up to hubby in bed, he hated the no home button. I took the sim card out & put back in his ph So iph 12 never used Vodafone needed a police report Too messy reporting, moved on

  • MarkPAllen2 Iron Chef AUS (@MarkPAllen2) reported

@mjrowland68 Optus is only a single problem in a single legislation that forced telcos to gather and keep such data. It was always going to be targeted by hackers.
