  @_thomasparkes @NBN_Australia Yep - starlink (and similar services in US) appear to be the primary use case. It's a per-device service; I'm using it to access a Raspberry Pi server. Setup involves installing wireguard and configuring a tunnel to the endpoint.

  @NBN_Australia Sadly, thanks to Abbott & @TurnbullMalcolm the only NBN I can get is the APPALLING satellite ‘service’. At least once a day, but usually several times a day, the service drops out. Previously reported; NBN ‘tested’ & says it’s OK. IT IS NOT. … 1/2

  Waiting for nbn person to fix my internet. Has been down for over 2 weeks. Today my provider will take $$$ from my account to pay for internet i haven't been able to access. Capitalism is a beautiful thing BTW other countries fix stuff on the day but hey, oi oi oi oi

  @JDRedding new books network, they discuss a book about those topics. the nbn is an academic podcast sponsored by gambling and pharma industry that snickers and laughs at plebs and avocates for the violent overthrow of the government. its a great listen if you want to know how people think.

  @craigkellyAFEE i actually thought it would of been way more than that, not that i like the bloke but for once his budget hasn't blown to to NBN porportions. I'm trying to get the AI to work out how many Starlink Service Networks to cover Australia. The slowest speed availiable 100Mbps, $75, UNLIMITED. To basically run a fishing line size string from a pit to the home, bolt on 2 Boxes, connect the fishing wire and bobs your uncle.. So if the Blowout was 10 or 14 Billion on a fishing wire size cable, can you image the shitshow it will be on the blowout to run all the transmission for their NOT so green energy. Lets hope we don't have to look at their muppet heads in a ocuple of yearsd, bloodty trainwrecks they are

  @Batman2242 Much worse. Starlink is an infinely better service; higher speeds, low latency. NBN satellite cross subsidy alone is more than a starlink subscription. NBN satellites are EOL, they've contracted Amazon's Kuiper for replacement rather than proven starlink 🤪 They hate Elon

  @PaulBongiorno Try living in rural Vic and getting an Australian made fixed satellite NBN service. Up until Starlink our snowfields resembled dial-up and we could not watch a streaming service without the loading circle popping up every minute or two.

  Who else is experiencing **** internet speeds after 7pm? By 10 pm it's almost impossible to get pages to load up and and have a smooth social media experience. Bloody diabolical. I'm on the verge of ditching the NBN and going Starlink. 😠😠

  @ShaneOliverAMP A big part of the problem is that starting from the 2010's more of our spending now goes to megatech platforms that extract Australian revenue without the old local multiplier. When $100 went to Ford or Holden, a retailer or a local media company, a large portion recycled through local wages, suppliers, property, logistics and tax. Now when $100 goes to a global ad platform, streaming service or cloud provider much more can disappear offshore through IP, reseller fees and related party charges with far less local employment or supplier spend despite the use of infrastructure like NBN and roads. So government keeps importing demand and taxing workers harder to fund services while more private spending leaks offshore to low local footprint platforms. That extraction is not productive for our economy and is increasingly an issue, especially when profits are being offshored and Australian taxpayers are unfairly carrying the burden.

  @TheUSFeedX Yes I would because it’s a good service. But my service just went from $136 a month to $150 a month, yet the local NBN in Australia is about $85 a month.

  @realRick_AUS I've just been fishing 50km down the vic river in the NT. Starlink had better uninterrupted reception than my NBN at home in the middle of Darwin. The NBN was yet another Labor scam on the taxpayer.
