  @_thomasparkes @NBN_Australia Yep - starlink (and similar services in US) appear to be the primary use case. It's a per-device service; I'm using it to access a Raspberry Pi server. Setup involves installing wireguard and configuring a tunnel to the endpoint.

  @Riogallica @nbn @Starlink The only problem with starlink is they can put the price up any time they feel, I was with them 2 months and they upped the price. If you want to go elsewhere in under 12 months you have to pay for the hardware, around $500 I think. Having said that, the service is ok.

  @NBN_Australia Sadly, thanks to Abbott & @TurnbullMalcolm the only NBN I can get is the APPALLING satellite ‘service’. At least once a day, but usually several times a day, the service drops out. Previously reported; NBN ‘tested’ & says it’s OK. IT IS NOT. … 1/2

  @TopherField I'm in regional Victoria and there's NBN fixed wireless, someone has to come to your home, drill holes and install cables and a antenna on the roof that's if you are in line of sight of the tower, it is slow, people around me have just got Starlink instead, it's a game changer

  @TheKouk Absolute bullshit, we were 0 under Howard, then 747 went big, Gillard and Rudd again, nbn commitments etc. Abbott slowed it down then Morrison due mostly to covid made it jump and now albo and jimflation have rocked it past 1t. You clowns can’t count

  @Nirgal451 @cmkusher Let’s check the record: Labor's NBN was full-fiber before the LNP sabotaged it into slow, costly copper. Inland Rail was botched by LNP scope creep, & NDIS white-anted by poor oversight. For economic reform stock with Labor. Vision didn't fail; execution was gutted by the LNP.

  I've said time and again that the NBN is a white elephant, and that it would be destroyed by competition... IF competition were allowed. Of course like-for-like competition is NOT allowed... the NBN have a monopoly on wired internet... but guess what? They're STILL being out-competed by the private sector anyway, because wireless technology has come a LONG way fast... After all the tens of billions we've spent, Australia still only ranks 43 on internet speeds (worse on some lists, I'm being generous) and still users are turning to the private sector because the NBN cannot help them where they are. Amazing. Government never makes things better, it only gets in the way of the private sector who WOULD make things better... if the government weren't in the way.

  @ChrisEconomist 2/2 The true scale of the off-budget disaster will only be clear when someone aggregates the retained losses across all these investments, as companies do in their financial statements. I've never seen this done, but if the NBN is any guide, the total would be staggering.

  Update. Dodos from NBN came back to tell me it’s my fault and nothing to do with them. Well! Problem solved. It will not be because of them come Thursday, Starlink install day.

  @TheUSFeedX Yes I would because it’s a good service. But my service just went from $136 a month to $150 a month, yet the local NBN in Australia is about $85 a month.

  @GusLefty The LNP let the NDIS run away. Deliberately in an attempt to make it unsustainable and shut it down. It's what they do. Medicare. NBN. Veterans. Robodebt.
