My home NBN connection went down sometime between 2am and 8.30am on Monday. The internet is still out, more than 24 hours later. I don’t know why or when it will be back. I live less than 10 minutes out of the Bendigo CBD.

I’ve been advised it’s possible NBN Co will cancel and rebook the technician, just to amend the address on the job. An address they were given documentation to amend at least a month ago, and which I was assured occurred.

@Hammyhamster10 @TurnbullMalcolm Having a great time with the NBN getting choked and my connection all but disappearing. All the while being told the NBN isn’t down by Telstra. Joke - and a pretty poor one at that.

@Telstra After not getting service 2yrs I’ve paid for full package, foxtel which I rarely can use cause there is no internet .. after 22 yrs of being a customer they said I have 2 choices .. wait 3-4 months for nbn to be connected and get $20 off my bill ... or leave !!!!!

@mheywood88 @JohnRHewson I had that problem in my old address. One of the pits was at the bottom of a hill, so it filled with rain water. Each time, a tech would advise that the pit was OK (when it wasn't raining) It only got fixed when NBN crew broke the pit requiring it to be rebuilt ....

Using an @nokia 2.3 on the @amaysimAU (@Optus) network, regularly get (much) better @Speedtest results than using same device on @NBN_Australia networks.

@AvidCommentator Starlink is much cheaper…personally I never had NBN and can’t understand why average home user prefers NBN over starlink right now…

  • macropin
    mastodon.au/@macropin (@macropin) reported

@eevblog NBN don't have the equipment necessary to maintain their own network. More consultants will fix the problem.

@robb_j_m Just signed for Starlink. $49/m for 4 months and $69/m after. **** the NBN

  • orstraya
    Orstraya (@orstraya) reported

@eevblog How can an organisation like NBN not have its own HDD crews or a contractor on standby? Why does it need council permits to carry out emergency works when federal law lets telcos basically do what they want?

  • aussi3dutchman
Wesley Van Der Wit (@aussi3dutchman) reported

@TheJawnzz @robb_j_m You were on a **** deal you can get 100mb/s NBN for $500/year. Shop around, look for deals.

  • imboudee
    M (@imboudee) reported

@THATS_RIGHT_YA @robb_j_m I doubt that’s a problem with the NBN infrastructure and perhaps more to do with your provider (TPG). I’m not sure what a 20 cm network cable has to do with much. At gigabit speeds I’d suggest a Cat7 network cable, to be sure to be sure. They’re fairly cheap nowadays.

@trsrpc For context. Australia's NBN is still be rolled out years after it was sold as the best thing ever... Yet many have incredibly unstable internet or none at all.

  • NBN_Australia
    nbn® Australia (@NBN_Australia) reported

@Peter_Strachan During an unplanned outage on the nbn network we keep your service provider up to date on all available updates like estimated restoration times and details of what's being done to fix the outage itself. As soon as we have any updates, we'll let your service provider know. 1/2

ACMA is NOT currently running a spectrum auction for LEO satellite broadband. In December 2025, ACMA decided against auctioning a large amount of expiring spectrum. Instead, they chose to renew the licenses held by mobile operators and NBN. Their reasoning was that auctions could disrupt existing services and slow down new technologies like low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites. Amazon's Project Kuiper is coming to Australia in mid-2026 through a major partnership with NBN Co. This will give Starlink its first real competition in the country, especially in regional and remote areas. This is generally good news for consumers because more competition usually means better prices and redundancy.
