Three minutes to go in the #NRLDragonsManly game and @FOXNRL on @Foxtel Play is dropping out. A shitty feed, or is it the shitty @NBN_Australia. We may never know.

@LesStonehouse Faithful to Telstra for 40 years despite our blind loyalty not being reciprocated in quality of service or pricing. Switched to Optus at NBN connection time some years back. Could not be happier with Optus!! Stuff Telstra "and all who ro(r)t in her!!"

@Telstra I’m a patient person. However when my very elderly parents in Kiama are left without a land line for over 20 days & I discover that someone in @telstra or @nbn didn’t create a ‘Task ID’ for the third time in 3 weeks I reach a state of total frustration. Pls help.

@choppers91 @RobOakeshott1 Hey Michael sorry for delay. Have asked my office to follow up on Monday. Rob, you’ve always been solid on NBN but simply not true that we are saying job done. We will inherit a mess. Don’t know the scale of it & won’t make reckless promise about time & cost to fix it.

@NBN_Australia one genuine question: apparently because of the lockdown in Wollongong, NBN cannot send out a technician! I thought you are an essential service?! Also, the technician needs to check out the lines and wiring, etc. and they have no contact with a person. why can’t they work?

  • kylechine

Great. My NBN connection has broken completely.

Been in my new house 7 weeks & @NBN_Australia keeps canceling & will not give me a reason why. Hopefully @Telstra complaints department can help. #internetsucks

@LesStonehouse @Telstra @Optus Oh He's. It does seem older folk were totally neglected in all of this. No NBN no phone. Cutoffs before they were ready. Expectations they'd understand it all. Neighbour is nearly 90 and it's been awful trying to keep him connected. All on his own.

  • trevorlong
Trevor Long (@trevorlong) reported from Wollongong, New South Wales

@seamus @brett_gibson @charlietech @wendy_harmer @robbie_buck @abcsydney The primary reason Nbn needed to add cvc capacity is because Australians - and click baiting journos at some publications - would simply say “nbn is stuffed” when they have issues, when in fact it’s the telcos that fail to provision bandwidth... anyway... good times

  • iB3nji

@TonyAbbottMHR We could say the same thing about you and your previous government when it comes to the shit NBN you built. What a disaster.

@DoctorKarl Can't believe this was an election issue and everyone chose so poorly. @TurnbullMalcolm, @TonyAbbottMHR & @JoeHockey screwed Australian internet over for generations. #NBN #Fail

Scott Morrison is trying to do what Turnball did with the NBN. Destroy the future and the environment by lying about the ESF. It has done nothing, it will never do anything except line their business cronies pockets.

@DrRimmer @guytaur @smh It’s disappointing the Libs stuffed the NBN up in the first place. It’s a complete and utter mess now. Will be difficult to fix now.

  • Laura_the_chef

It was an NBN problem, which means I can't fix it. I told her that but that wasn't a good enough excuse. Do now I am a fat lazy spoilt child all because i didn't drop everything to sort out all her problems. She then told my dad that and threatened to stop helping me financially

@NBN_Australia Update: Thanks for sending someone to have a look. He tried to help but finally concluded that the most speed I can get here is 17mbps! because we are 1 km away from the node. I need to find an altenrantive for NBN. It should not be this low next to a main street. #nbndisaster

NBN Issues Reports

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:

  • cuffs1971
    Craig Phillips (@cuffs1971) reported

@whereisaaron @robb_j_m @NBN_Australia That doesn't work with infrastructure. This only works in a production line environment where the fixed costs are spread over a higher volume produced. Infrastructure increase as the demand goes up. More people more lines, more nodes more exchanges, more costs. Its not fixed.

  • Justme136160
    Just me (@Justme136160) reported

@robb_j_m Never used NBN. Use a much cheaper wifi plan.

  • whereisaaron
    AaronTheDiver (@whereisaaron) reported

@cuffs1971 @robb_j_m @NBN_Australia Eh? You're saying, that because Australia has economies of scale, that fibre is more expensive?!? That's upside-down world! NBN has *way* more customers to spread the infra costs over. If anything, fibre should be cheaper in Australia than NZ, surely?

  • Michael44814776
    Michael Brennan (@Michael44814776) reported

@BamBam0667 @EnergyWrapAU No, nbn has cost far more due to LNP. LNP original costing: Promised $29.5B (2013 election); revised to $41B in Strategic Review. The evidence is that in the caucus , as detailed in Turnbull’s book, Abbott simply wanted LNP to be contrarian about nbn. They stopped the fibre rollout and replaced it with copper. At the time, LNPs message that nbn would go over budget was favoured due to a complicit media. For instance, when the ABC science editor did a comprehensive comparison between labour’s FTTP and LNP copper, the report was spiked until after the election, due to ABC management wanting to appease LNP. Then, under LNP, ABC did not have a science editor. Consider the subsequent dearth of reporting by ABC in following years about the biggest infrastructure project ever. Consider that Turnbull appointed a former business associate to be chair of ABC whilst a Director of NBN snd whilst a ceo of a supplier to NBN with a $100m contract for design and fabrication of copper based distribution boxes, which have subsequently been removed. So there is no surprise that the public were force fed the line that all that glitters is copper. The reality set in when the deterioration of the copper network became apparent to punters. The cost of NBN is now at approx $50B with $54B to 2030 to due to the replacement costs of LNPs copper systems with fibre. So Abbott and Turnbull cost the country many billions not to mention the years of misery and lost productivity by prolonging the copper network.

@bobslidelx @JacintaAllanMP I've got 2 more weeks on current project than have about 20k of drilling left in sydney (installing goverment fibre optic network, like nbn but not ****) Then hopefully at the end of this year start of next we are either doing ali ce springs to darwin or toowoomba to chinchilla

@DavePhippen After 8 calls totalling 12 hours to NBN co and Telstra I found the magic key: Just say "Ombudsman" Service person arrived the next day and a new modem the same week.

  • BrowntownBrew
    Cdbrown (@BrowntownBrew) reported

@DWybar2 @robb_j_m @Optus Change providers. Aussie broadband were great in pin pointing the issue, providing all the info to nbn to prove there was an issue and getting it fixed.

  • thelostleonardo
    Salvator Mundi (@thelostleonardo) reported

@EnergyWrapAU NBN generates revenue and pays down its costs over time. How can you compare that to NDIS which is a huge ongoing cesspool of fraud and waste.

  • eevblog
    Dave Jones (@eevblog) reported

NBN Update: "Cable works are progressing. The fibre cable was installed between the two manholes early this morning and the site has been made safe. Due to traffic control requirements, work has temporarily paused and will recommence under day Road Occupancy Licences between 10:00am and 2:00pm. Cable preparation works began earlier at 3:30am, with splicing scheduled to commence this afternoon. Customer restoration is expected to be completed later today. NBN will continue to monitor progress and provide further updates as they become available."

@wilburston @robb_j_m I highly doubt any satellite service is better than NBN unless you're literally not in the coverage area.
