  With @Telstra being down there’s no EFTPOS at my local shops. Couldn’t get cash from any of the ATMs as they’re all down too. Managed to withdraw cash at the post office to pay for groceries. Thanks for still providing that service @auspost - we’re not going to be cashless yet.

  Is Telstra mobile really crap in the Mountains, or is it because I’m using a cheap reseller? I can rarely watch a 3m video without massive pauses, even with 2-3-4 bars of reception.

  @PlayAtArena @HaveeSnowball Telstra imports Indians in massive numbers. Every piece of technology Telstra has has been managed and built by Indians for a decade. Pay them 6x the salary for them to take up housing and create the same **** they would have offshore. Why are we doing this?

  @griffonboi @StanleyEb27103 @VLine My understanding is it's twofold: NTCS (ICE radio) went down without Telstra (although it's worth noting that ICE has access to Iridium satellite phones as a fallback where Telstra isn't available) and a lot of signalling infrastructure is controlled by the mobile networks.

  @oscarcsims also very confusing policy/reg space. govt essentially renationalised Telstra infrastructure in leasing a bunch of its assets to the NBN. yet Telstra still runs emergency services, payphones, landlines - not NBN. minimal economic incentives, maximal telco corporate welfare
