    @claytonjhawkins @QBCCIntegrity @Telstra Nationwide doesn’t mean every single person was affected. But considering it affected train services nationwide, it affected businesses nationwide, emergency calls, and had an impact on more than one Australian state.

    @griffonboi @VLine I would have thought that the Telstra outage was to GSM-R? I'm not familiar with all the technologies but otherwise why would a Telstra Core Timing Outage affect VLine?

    Travel Alert - Australia (🟡Risk) - Train disruptions continue in Victoria through 9 July despite restoration of Telstra communication services - Update. Railway officials reported that Victoria's V/Line regional train services remained suspended throughout today and will continue to be disrupted until morning hours local time on 9 July, even as Telstra officials reported that over 90 percent of their services were restored during evening hours today, after a nationwide communication outage. Many emergency calls were impacted by the technical failure.

    @StMaryMacKiller Did they deliberately hang up on you, or were you abruptly disconnected mid-word/sentence? Had quite a few interrupted calls today due to the Telstra outage.

    @oscarcsims also very confusing policy/reg space. govt essentially renationalised Telstra infrastructure in leasing a bunch of its assets to the NBN. yet Telstra still runs emergency services, payphones, landlines - not NBN. minimal economic incentives, maximal telco corporate welfare
