Apparently Telstra is now saying it wasn't an attack but an internal issue. Hope that is true. At least the issue has been fixed.

@mverbloot @NBN_Australia @iiNet I don't think so. I've been delighted with the 50/20 service via copper. But something hit the aerial lead-in cable at 3:30 Monday morning 3 weeks ago. A neighbour on Telstra was restored within days but for some reason NBN can't supply a tech with a ladder ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

******* hell the editing in the Saturday Age is abysmal. "Although it was not particular[ly] long by his standards," Fiona Byrne on Hinch "Brady and Ackland fronted the [media/public/nation] with confidence" Nick Bonyhady on Telstra outage 1/2

@GunjapartyOz @MikeCarlton01 @Telstra Y2k was fixed about 15 years before y2k. This was a simple time mismatch error and can happen on almost any machine regardless of the level of infrastructure or operating system. Try it yourself, set your system clock to some time in the past and try to update, then watch it fail

@BerryAndBitty @griffonboi @VLine GSM-R or even FRMCS isn't suited for Australia's dense landmass... First of all the latter is essentially 5G which due to its use of higher frequencies essentially means you'll need to duplicate the entire Telstra network (plus more) to achieve anything

@MikeCarlton01 @Telstra That would be vodafone followed by optus and then telstra. Before anyone comes after me, vodafone went down for several months in 2010/2011, optus had a data breach in 2022 that affected nearly 10 million customers. Telstra just inconvenienced people.

@Commoncents21 @DaleH1234 Henderson/Liddle/Barnaby in 1 wk blame the gov for china firing a missile 5,500km away, Telstra private company fails in regard to 000 & Liddle tops it off with an assertion a death was due to Labor. The pattern? Opposition panic when a problem occurs then try & link it to gov.

@AlboMP Anthony will you be calling a Royal commission into the Telstra outage also I think we need a Royal Commission into why Roger Federer was sitting alone at Wimbledon?

Listen to me. Telstra CEO Vicky Brady losing her job might make you feel better but it won't help improve the system. I've seen this scenario play out multiple times throughout my ITC career. Someone else comes in & it's Snakes & Ladders. Listen to the technicians. #auspol
