It’s taken 53minutes for a Telstra live chat representative to tell me that the fault is with my modem.... God I hope that’s the worst of it.

  • Dannii_Taylor
Dannii (@Dannii_Taylor) reported from Trafalgar, Victoria

@dilemski @Telstra Yeah I know. After 4 days it’s still not lit. I’m using my mobile as a hotspot. Thankfully @telstra are “working on it” *insert rage-filled sarcasm here*. I should have switched to @Optus instead of trusting Telstra to provide a decent service. I’m sure they’ll charge me for it

  • wombatlyons
wombat lyons (@wombatlyons) reported from Trafalgar, Victoria

@Telstra return to giving people help when they call 132000 or discount our bills for the absence of customer support

@Sam123Price @pudlet37 Always relied on Telstra's time service 1188. "At the third stroke it will be..."

@Telstra_news @TelstraEnt @Telstra are usually pretty quick to contact you when you don’t pay for their service...but they’re pretty bloody slow when their service sucks and you make multiple requests for assistance. Cmon, it’s 2019 and a week w/out internet shouldn’t happen

  • wombatlyons

@CaseyBriggs @mscott Wish i could watch the news and feel informed but @Telstra have had another drop out and so far 20 minutes on hold, it might be Monday before help. Why dont i work from home in COVID 19, 3 months of unexplained and unfixed dropouts

  • Dannii_Taylor

We waited all day for @Telstra to call (like they said they would.....). But there was no phone call. C’mon guys - please get your act together and provide me with the service that I’m paying for. Kthanx.

@Kareeming_1 @murzo_4 Got this same **** a few months ago with a Foxtel Now overcharge. Got sick of the BS, logged an issue with the ombudsman and got refund within two weeks. It was like the Telstra operator was dealing with 10 calls at once

  • Dannii_Taylor
Dannii (@Dannii_Taylor) reported from Trafalgar, Victoria

@Optus Thanks Jono. I freakin LOVE your network and have never once had an issue Optus and should not have signed a new bloody contract with Telstra...lesson learned.... 😓

@GregGibbo28 Was it a verbal threat on telstra app or did you lodge a complaint online with ombudsman?

@defnotbarnsybdc @QBCCIntegrity That works for awhile but now Telstra is forcing people to have a current os and have started kicking people off the network. My phone went dead last week so i went to use a backup phone and could not for this reason.

  • Paradoxa18
    Paradoxa (@Paradoxa18) reported

OK the rain was good but why is the phone out? first rain in a while might have taken out the landline or rats or termites be in a right pickle if the mobile were network blocked as it was for a while hey @Telstra can't dm on the new phone the "network" demanded I buy

  • JesseValeri
    Jesse (@JesseValeri) reported

@Busybee32433175 @Teh_Jkr @Optus Any time I wanted a new phone I'd walk into a Telstra store and just buy one. My SIM is already Telstra its just plug and play. People make the mistake of getting a new phone whilst still paying off the current one. A never ending cycle of payments for something shiny. Boring.

@SophiaMoermond When John Howard defeated Paul Keating in the 1996 election, Australia's federal debt was $97B. He sold assets (like Telstra) plus set about paying down the debt. The debt was cleared in 2006 and our savings began. The Rudd govt inherited $17B.

Got a cold and my fevers so bad I kept trying to think about Tarzan and my brain was autocorrecting it to Telstra and now I legitimately can’t remember which is which anymore

@Telstra I have an outage reported via SMS yet no info on the outages site. Peregian Springs. Why?

  • Andy22000

@WhereMyOstrich @ausstockchick No need to respond in such a derogatory manner. Here is the list, I pulled this from Grok in app you can verify it easily. Recent major Australian companies announcing significant domestic layoffs and offshoring of corporate/white-collar roles — Woolworths, Officeworks, Telstra, and NAB — have timed these moves amid sharp rises in domestic employment costs. • Woolworths (early June 2026) is offshoring hundreds of head-office roles in IT, finance, and HR to India/Philippines as part of cost-cutting to stay competitive with Aldi and Amazon. • Officeworks (late May 2026) is shifting hundreds of support, customer service, and tech roles to Bengaluru and Manila, boosted by AI/automation. • Telstra (earlier 2026) cut hundreds of roles (up to 650 in rounds) with work moving offshore to India. • NAB has expanded offshore teams in India/Vietnam (adding 1,000+ roles) while managing Australian redundancies. This wave aligns closely with escalating domestic labour costs: The national minimum wage and award rates rose 3.5% from July 2025, superannuation guarantee hit 12%, and the Fair Work Commission announced further increases effective July 2026 (4.75% on awards, ~5.9–6% on the minimum wage to $26.44/hour). Combined with weak productivity growth, higher on-costs (payroll tax, workers’ comp, etc.), and strong wage pressures, this has widened the cost gap versus offshore locations where skilled roles can be 30–70% cheaper. Companies cite these factors — plus efficiency drives — as key reasons for prioritising offshoring while protecting or growing frontline retail/store jobs domestically. This reflects a broader 2025–2026 trend among Aussie firms responding to cost-arbitrage opportunities in a high-wage, lower-productivity environment.

Will have to admit that calling the telstra workers **** did actually solve my issue and got the ball moving to fix the issue. Something oldschool foreign outsourced support would take serious and send in the big man to solve it. No I think if you tried that they'd extradite you to the others land to be put down.

Australian Govs of all persuasions have sold the people out. First sold QLD State Gov Insurance, Keating the Commonwealth Bank , Howard Telstra, Beattie Water and we can keep going. Private industry is about profit and no service . We have that and pay exorbitant amounts for it
