Shaun Ewing (@swewing) reported from Glenbrook, New South WalesWith @Telstra being down there’s no EFTPOS at my local shops. Couldn’t get cash from any of the ATMs as they’re all down too. Managed to withdraw cash at the post office to pay for groceries. Thanks for still providing that service @auspost - we’re not going to be cashless yet.

Chris Bowen (@TheBowen) reported from Wilberforce, New South Wales@alborzfallah @trevorlong @PaulMaric @Telstra I think you better talk to Paul. I sense there’s mini crisis in the CarAdvice office about phones. Hope the bosses can fix it. #prayforcaradvice

Joshua McKinnon (@corduroy) reported from Blaxland, New South WalesIs Telstra mobile really crap in the Mountains, or is it because I’m using a cheap reseller? I can rarely watch a 3m video without massive pauses, even with 2-3-4 bars of reception.

澳洲袋鼠 🇦🇺🦘 (@popgomouse) reported@BlairPring81213 @cjoye When Howard partially privatised Telstra, it retained the countrywide copper landline backbone, a network monopoly. All telcos and ISPs needed to connect to Telstra landline. Telstra usually took a long time to find the keys to exchanges when other telcos asked to connect. 3/8

The InfraDev (@theinfradev) reported@malimber01 @robb_j_m What are you talking about. The NBN was created from nothing and only cost so much in the end because it was saddled with Telstra's **** copper infra by the libs and had to essentially build it twice.

Mark Sareff (@MarkSareff) reported@Telstra 1 Calvert Avenue Killara. Shows nbn out. Trouble is I have low mobile data allowance and depend on wifi

XCorpHub (@XCorpHub) reported🚨 Telstra, TPG telecom clash with Musk’s SpaceX over Starlink spectrum guarantee Australian telecom giants Telstra and TPG Telecom are urging the government to hold competitive auctions for satellite-mobile frequencies instead of granting SpaceX guaranteed priority access for Starlink’s Direct-to-Cell service. They warn that such guarantees risk market concentration and could lead to higher consumer prices. SpaceX has cautioned that without assured spectrum through a direct network licence it may withhold full deployment of the service in Australia. • Telstra and TPG stress the need for multiple satellite providers and diverse commercial models to promote genuine competition. • The outcome will influence connectivity expansion across remote and regional Australia where traditional networks fall short.

Marcus Wong (@aussiewongm) reported@rainbowdefault @AJAllchin @Telstra And an upside of this is there is now an unpaid army of people testing whether the payphones are actually still working, rather than some poor chump in an emergency getting stranded.

Katarina Brozovic+ (@brozovicbasic) reportedAustralians have a social contract with Australia Post and Telstra, to provide an equitable service across our whole country, regardless of how remotely and away from the eastern capitals people live and work. If the Minister can't ensure that, then resign!
