@RedJules4 A data breach is not a programmer issue. Programmers use approved libraries to assure their code is to the security standards specified in the design docs... Companies employ or contract out security to experts. This is more likely a case of Optus potentially not listening

OMG #PeterDutton how is the #optus data breach a very serious problem for the government? #auspol

@jacob_633 @artfulbunny @Optus They've been trying to make me do direct debit but they ****** some **** up when they switched me to the new accounts so my direct debit got cleared and I've refused to set it back up, I pay before it's due anyway.

@saltyskin_ @Optus No financial information, but enough for people to commit a **** tonne of fraudulent activity using your identity. No biggie really.
-
Ashish (@ashishenigma) reported
@Optus @RunnerSA18 Is your board now ready to consider my proposal to build an Open Telecom Platform to stop Australians from phone scams? Bring in Vodafone, Telestra and regulators to get this sorted now. By the way, poor architecture design with the API having a connection to customer data!
-
Toby Murray (@tobycmurray) reported
@manjusrii Retaining passport and drivers license info seems negligent to me and if it required to be retained then surely a breach of the privacy act? Can we expect criminal or civil remedies? Asking as both a cyber academic and an Optus customer

Even if your information was stolen in the Optus hack, don’t be a **** to the customer service department.

Antibodies Against Kookery (@AgainstKookery) reported
@DrKate_Miller @Optus The test network being connected to the internet is a really bad mistake they shouldn't have made. But this could have happened even without that mistake. At least Optus has notified us. One online shop I used got hacked and took 4 years to tell their customers.

@Optus @Sidonie89 if we believe? i thought you were responsible for keeping our personal information safe. and your solution is to change passwords to every account that i have? i have 100 accounts, how's that a solution? I'm done with this ignorance and incompetency.
