So the answer to the @Optus breach by @VicRoads is to issue everyone a second card, effectively 2 CARD # FACTOR AUTHORISATION which will need to later be quoted to companies needing license info. Looking forward to the day I have a full deck of License cards. #OptusDataBreach

  • kidsatmidnight Kids At Midnight (@kidsatmidnight) reported from Cape Paterson, State of Victoria

@chrisopotamia I only know to check my emails about the next level in the Optus cyber attack saga by your tweets. I too need a new license it seems. Thank you for your service.

@Optus zero network connectivity (no calls, text or data) in Wonthaggi and the wider Bass Coast. Any update on when the network will be back?

  • hbkirb Adam Demasi • Chariz • Zebra • NewTerm (@hbkirb) reported

“We’ve never seen anything like this before,” said Optus’s Chief Security Officer. “Most breaches we’ve seen don’t involve any humans, let alone errors created by humans. Usually, they’re just computers deciding they don’t like each other any more.”

  • Makucha Jo (@Makucha) reported

@strangerous10 @mairzy3039 Wow. So @Optus want everyone else to fix their stuff up? She’s some kind of special unit that CEO 🙄

@patrickkeneally Our c/c was done today, due to this $9700 gone 8/10 weeks for a resolution.. I’m done with Optus

  • agarner Adam Garner (@agarner) reported

Another risk assessment should have been done when connecting this API to a test network that was Internet connected. Again, Optus’s fault no matter how you slice it.

  • SophiaFrentz Dr Sophia Frentz 🌈 (@SophiaFrentz) reported

When I open the myoptus app I get a notification directing me to an Optus FAQ section... But still no email or sms. Oh, and I can't access their feedback form and customer service are not available.

  • stilgherrian Stilgherrian (@stilgherrian) reported

@Leighlo @arielbogle Well, yes, that’s the whole point of encryption. But let’s say data in a database is encrypted. Good But this means nothing if The Bad People™ gain access to the staff dashboard that decrypts that data so it can be used. This is a hypothetical example. Dunno what Optus had.

  • StellaAtch Stella Atchison (@StellaAtch) reported

@zanrowe Wondering if it happened longer ago than what they said. About a week ago my daughter started having issues with the web and WhatsApp. Things wouldn’t send, she couldn’t search things etc. She contacted Optus about it. Today she got THE email that she was one of the ones. 🤔

  • habib_costanza Habib 💉💉💉 (@habib_costanza) reported

@lavosaurus Pretty ridiculous comments here tbh. It was a cyber attack. And at the moment there's no evidence to suggest that it was due to any particular weakness or omission by Optus. If somebody has their house broken into, resulting in theft, do we blame the victim?

  • dannynoeljackso daniel jackson (@dannynoeljackso) reported

@pauld08 I've found Optus ok, the **** has hit the fan since GBJ started working there, coincidence? #EOS
