  • RollerDerbyMum QueenOfTheDamned (@RollerDerbyMum) reported

@nviolets49 @shazlharro @PringPhillip Verifying identity is fine, but passport, drivers licence and Medicare numbers should NEVER be stored. Once POI is established, what should be noted is what was sighted. Expiry dates, maybe, but NEVER the numbers. I do this as part of my job. That’s accepted practice. Optus fail!

  • meanwhileinau Sack Sally Capp ☻ (@meanwhileinau) reported

@9NewsMelb This has been going on for years with Optus but NOT to this extent. Optus CEO MUST step down NOW!

  • NewtonMark Mark Newton (@NewtonMark) reported

PJCIS recommended that the Parliament proceed with the Data Retention Act 2015. PJCIS agreed with ASIO and the AFP that telcos needed to positively identify customers for mobile service, causing Optus to collect their drivers licenses, passports and medicare numbers. /2

  • OpusTerry Terry Boyd (@OpusTerry) reported

@EmergencyBK I'm guessing that she could have sold the customer list herself to raise more money. That's what asset strippers do - and the data was the only real asset that Optus had left that isn't already covered in debt or locked in ....

  • lfsleigh Lucia (@lfsleigh) reported

Optus is also telling me that when I register for their Equifax 12-month subscription, I might be charged $14.99 and that I need to update them so they can credit my account. FFS, just fix your **** up without causing me to jump through more hoops to get in contact with you!

  • STFU_Whisper STFUguy (@STFU_Whisper) reported

@JoshuaWithers something doesnt sit right with me with this whole thing. Optus arent being truthful.. the hacker (probably not a hacker) is either a complete numpty or is speaking ****

  • Rlesc1 Lescure 🇫🇷 (@Rlesc1) reported

@heytrooblue @SharnelleVella @Optus If you are prepared to remain a customer?

  • VacuousNess 💧 Vacuous the vaccinated. (@VacuousNess) reported

@mariewalsh18 Optus: Nope. Scammers: possibly. Been getting dodgy phone calls supposedly originating from all sorts of OS destinations and interstate, they never leave messages. Also SMS claiming to be from services, banks etc I don't use. Those I've passed on to appropriate authorities etc

  • ZiptieZoe ZiptieZoe (@ZiptieZoe) reported

@brettjmb @Jeremy_Kirk @Optus I think may be fair if for a phone. But anyone who wants to walk from a contract should be able to with incurring a cost. All profit at this point should go to remedy breaches, offset contract closures & to their poor, swamped, employees!

  • chomm3rs The Crooked Hoss (@chomm3rs) reported

@SamLeightonDore The @optus customer service bloke told me he had heard from me in a long time so he was terminating the conversation RE the hack. It was just gone two minutes.
