@blake_andersson @Telstra @Optus Go Boost Mobile! I’m with them. Same Telstra network, unlimited Apple Music, more data for less. Pre-paid.

@LesStonehouse @Telstra @Optus Oh He's. It does seem older folk were totally neglected in all of this. No NBN no phone. Cutoffs before they were ready. Expectations they'd understand it all. Neighbour is nearly 90 and it's been awful trying to keep him connected. All on his own.

@IanMcMi38908747 @AlboMP What do you suggest, a new publicly owned telco perhaps? Talk to Telstra, Optus and co. They are the ones who can fix the problem.

@QuentinDempster Optus wasn't hacked. Their system was wide open for anyone with advanced computer knowledge to access their files. I understand from my reading on the issue it maybe still open. How do they have any customers left?

@Asher_Wolf optus have done sweet f**k all ... I've had a total of 2 emails from them - one in the beginning notifying me. Second one just last week advising that I was one of the people who's license number was involved. Seriously poor form

@ServiceNSW @MarioBekes The Optus app only works if you are a current Optus customer. I’m not. I have failed to talk to a human on so many calls to Optus. All I know is SOME of my data was exposed. So many unanswered questions.

So as someone who’s both an #Optus customer AND a #Medibank Private customer do I get a prize? Other than my data being stolen twice?

A radio host asked me if the gov can fix this. How? Make hacking illegal? Penalise companies for breaches? There are definitely areas they can influence (better regulation around data retention and identify verification in the @Optus case), but it doesn’t “fix” the problem.
