@clarkes signing that deal last year for tpg to operate over Optus networks in regional areas. So that's good. We need to come up with a way for network failovers when these incidents happen. But it's tricky... if the biggest operator goes down, how would this work in practice.

@normboy562 It is not her fault that Telstra went down. It is not her fault that Optus went down a couple of years ago. It is her fault that she has done **** all in the years between those two outages to solve the problem of 000.

@therevaknight Because of Government incompetence, they had no simple backup system, they made NO allowances for technological failure, complexity is the enemy of reliable; the reliability issue was known (ref previous OPTUS outage). NO REDUNDANCY for critical infrastructure! @heidimur

@twensor @FetchStep sadly its totally on form for telstra. remember when a small fire in their chatswood building took out the national SMS network. where i live telstra, nbn, optus and vodafone are all on a 4 hour battery backup, while essential energy schedules regular 8 hour outages.

@BinManIan Even if we were to propose the oval stadiums, the AFL is too greedy and has too much influence, they'll never allow the use of the MCG, Adelaide Oval and Optus Stadium for a month

@roodave didn't Metro in Melbourne get hit by an Optus outage a couple of years back?

@Bigly20 @Caitlen2310 The Guardian asks why hasn't the government acted on regulations since the Optus outage last year? I ask what did the Coalition do about regulations after the Telstra outages in 2016 & 2018? What private discussions and/or guarantees did they obtain from Telstra after those events? In 2018 Triple Zero calls dropped out across 5 states for 10 hours. If it were so simple why didn't the Coalition insist on Telstra installing back up systems? Maybe we need a Royal Commission (joke).

Australians deserve answers on many things that concern Labor.. on your continuing lying your actions concerning Australia.. your misogyny.. your disgusting stance on women .. the aged .. veterans .. how you gift taxpayers money to overseas .. we Ned an audit on Gov’t actions.. on you ant the whole Labor party .. Anthony Albanese says the outage affecting Telstra’s national network was “deeply concerning”, claiming Australians were “entitled to answers” but that investigations were ongoing. “It’s very disruptive to people’s lives throughout the country. This is a national outage that has varied effects,” the Prime Minister told reporters in Brisbane. “The Triple-0 custodian is in constant contact with Telstra and with the emergency services, and investigations are underway at this stage. What Telstra have indicated to the government is that they don’t see this as being … malicious, but those investigations are underway.” Mr Albanese pointed to government measures crackind won on Australian telco’s in the wake of the Optus Triple-0 scandal claiming the government would continue to engage with Telstra over the outage. “We’ll continue to engage constructively. But I think people are entitled to get answers, but they also want answers that are accurate and those investigations are ongoing,” he said.
