So, 9.8M @Optus customers have their data stolen. Where was that data, @ClareONeilMP ? In Australia or held overseas? We need to legislate to keep customer data in Aust & fully subject to Privacy Act 1985 @AlboMP

@smh @AnnaPattySMH Called Optus because couldn’t log on to my account. The person I spoke to, after much keyboard clicking, said my email address wasn’t registered. I said I’ve been a customer for 15+ years and you send my bills to that email account. She didn’t even know about the data breach.

@bluyonda @nameshiv My mum cancelled Optus ages ago because of stuff around during broadband rollout, but they were really bad about just closing the account, so she still gets weird not-bills. She got the email about details release, so I suspect it might include ex-customers too.

@AlexTurnerCohen @newscomauHQ I had a really helpful chat with Optus support because I wanted to get more precise information than “drivers license or passport”. They told me that they didn’t have my passport details but did have my license *and Medicare* details.
