Optus Issues Reports

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:

  • swabhitch Ned (@swabhitch) reported

@theprojecttv Not customers fault, yet they are the ones doing all the leg work to fix the mess they caused and the owners of Optus not even communicating to anyone what is happening or how they will go about to fix the problem.

  • NewtonMark Mark Newton (@NewtonMark) reported

@loz_obi @acmadotgov @Optus I think “you need the 100 points of proof to open the account” need to be reviewed. It serves no practical purpose (network works without it; criminals can get burner SIMs regardless), our peer jurisdictions don’t do it, and it carries unnecessary privacy risk.

  • Heplayedfour This Old Man (@Heplayedfour) reported

@hughriminton Hugh, I've lost data in every category. Most Optus contacts are cancel anytime for the service. The smartly split the contracts in two a while ago. The phone has a repayment plan and the service contract can be cancelled anytime with no penalty.

  • stilgherrian Stilgherrian (@stilgherrian) reported

@AnOldManStream1 Nothing is officially confirmed yet . Someone leaked from Optus that it was indeed a test server with real data on a network that had internet connectivity. The purported hacker claims it was directly exposed to the internet somehow. Minister’s comments would support the theory.

  • dwightwalker Dwight Walker (@dwightwalker) reported

all @optus has to do it is create docker image and use that to test its unauthenticated API endpoint with test data not put it on the public internet with live customer data #security #databreach - seems cost saving exercise not to test with dummy data - save $100

  • serpent_roots tj (@serpent_roots) reported

@joshgnosis Amaysim were an acquisition that have always used the Optus network rather than being a white label product so it's not a surprise their systems are still separate.

  • video_link Lars Cosh-Ishii (@video_link) reported

@zahidtg ideally, OPTUS required to manage all the paperwork too; provide details on comprised customer accts to various official re-issuing entities ordering new~unique documents delivered by courier.. done within 30-days.

  • one_pacifist kunal sumbly (@one_pacifist) reported

@Jeremy_Kirk there are API testing frameworks that can be easily integrated with your OAUTH providers to invoke your secured APIs for functional testing. Also if a network misconfiguration caused this optus API to get exposed to public internet then that probably needs different controls

  • TheProselytiser Proselytiser (@TheProselytiser) reported

@capt_petabyte @ServicesGovAU @ServicesGovAU how hard would it be for u to DM this gentleman & get his ph number?! Good grief. I've been trying to get through re the #Optus debacle, but at least I'm not laid up in hospital. Help this person!! #optusfail #optusbreach

  • MirgraBlue Miriam Gravino (@MirgraBlue) reported

@rowenaferg @mjrowland68 @BreakfastNews I've heard of someone who left Optus 10 years ago having issues because of data incident.
