@ClareONeilMP Optus didn't want to collect and store our data. The government required them to as a condition of operation. You're the problem pretending to be the solution.

@Jeremy_Kirk @Optus @medibank I'm ambivalent about this. Governments have many skilled and well-meaning people, who could really help in case of an incident. But history tells us that governments are more likely to abuse such powers. And ask how the Legal department feels about allowing government access...

@Jeremy_Kirk @Optus @medibank User compromise incidents. It was sheer dumb luck the idiots didn't have a major breach, and it took ridiculous levels of convincing to get them to implement various appropriate security measures. Companies will never change unless forced, and Optus and Medibank have /3

@Jeremy_Kirk @Optus @medibank I imagine their support would rival the calibre of the Online Census or Queensland Health. Honestly if they want to get real they can start with mandating a level of SAST and PenTesting as compliance and to keep compliant they get your score, scan freq & threats each fortnight.

@Jeremy_Kirk @Optus @medibank ****. That. Why should the taxpayers fund the cyber defense of private companies? Hold the executives and directors responsible and drive accountability when they fail to invest and get hacked.
