Optus Issues Reports

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:

  • gmase2020 Geoff Mason (@gmase2020) reported

@Optus @RunnerSA18 Classic Optus, shambles of a network, shambles of a company. Not surprised

  • LowmanX Socialist Cat (@LowmanX) reported

@Optus No, should have AT LEAST emailed/texted ALL customers about the breach and then given instructions on what they needed to do - eg. change passwords, keep an eye on any odd account activity, shared info on credit check bans etc. For a comms company Optus really sucks at comms.

  • trevorlong Trevor Long (@trevorlong) reported

@sophie_walsh9 @9NewsSyd I can't ask questions - NFI why - can you? Can you ask Has Optus directly contacted any of the customers affected by this breach? Customer Care chat agents are saying customers have been contacted, yet we’ve not found any - how many have been contacted?

  • elronxenu The Iron Xenu 👾💉💉💉🦠 (@elronxenu) reported

@sylmobile Same. When I stop being a customer, Optus should delete my data (after a reasonable delay).

  • trevorlong Trevor Long (@trevorlong) reported

Optus CEO keeps talking about the data that has been breached as "not the most vulnerable" because it wasn't passwords or payment info. Problem is, it's worse. Far worse. Because its both a recipe for identity fraud and for the most elaborate of scams.

  • GarrieIrons Garrie Irons vCISO at non disclosed (@GarrieIrons) reported

@stilgherrian I was a customer a decade ago. Does that time rule me out, or is Optus days hygiene so poor my "was a customer, once" data is in the same place as "is a customer, now" data?

  • stilgherrian Stilgherrian (@stilgherrian) reported

The 9.8 million records figure in the media is the worst case. Optus believes it's a "very small" subset of data but they don't have the exact number yet. Once they know, they'll contact each customer with the specifics of the data breaches for that customer.

  • trevorlong Trevor Long (@trevorlong) reported

Optus say customer data involved in their Cyber attack dates back to 2017.

  • vFNQer KC (@vFNQer) reported

@mitchostheleo @Optus unimpressed. long term customer, too. and recently took $3 extra pm for inflation. consider churning, next renewal.

  • arielbogle Ariel Bogle (@arielbogle) reported

Just on the Optus press call about the hack. Disappointing but perhaps not surprising that media questions about how the company stores customer data, especially ID data, were not put to the CEO.
