    @LesStonehouse @Optus There is, I think I remember correctly, a period of up to 48 hours where a new service replicates across a WAN (wide area network).

    Maybe before payment each month @optus needs to declare (on their bill), 'we have not let anyone steal or use your ID or bank details during this billing period'. If this is untrue, all bills are stopped until the customer is guaranteed their ID can't be used by another party.

    @Jeremy_Kirk So a test server had no auth, unobfuscated real customer data, and was accessible from the Net? Multiple failings here. A transparent report by Optus would provide an opportunity to learn from this. We have ATSB reports for major incidents, perhaps CERT should do the same.

    @ClareONeilMP Optus handling of this has been immature and laughable. Childish even to compare it to “data you would give facebook”. They are gaslighting and playing it down.

    @Optus data breech highlights how bad the situation in Australia is. Inconsistencies as to how states manage licenses. Time it takes to change other compromised id's. The general lack of understanding on dealing with such situations. @AlboMP needs to step in #AusPol #OptusHack

This is like to posting all our private information onto the local notice board in town and then blaming "attack" when someone reads it
