@LesStonehouse @Optus There is, I think I remember correctly, a period of up to 48 hours where a new service replicates across a WAN (wide area network).

@toninicho I am now, seriously, thinking of changing my carrier after years of being with Optus Problem is Telstra cost me a first full money last time I was with them and I dropped Vodaphone over their poor customer service.

@clarkes I don't think it's 4G specifically that causes the issue, it's that we have one major mobile network operator, and two others. Between them they don't provide comprehensive coverage across the country because of our sheer size. And they don't play together. Except Optus & TPG

GLM is a lot less "forgiving" than Opus/GPT; use these techniques in your long workflows to avoid many GLM errors: 1⃣ incremental output - don't output at the end, make your agents output incrementally while working 2⃣ checkpoint writes - glm agents can timeout very easily during reasoning phases, so have them output checkpoints to prevent this 3⃣ tighten prompts - glm seems a lot dumber than opus/gpt at figuring out what the correct action is, so tighten up your prompts to remove any ambiguity 4⃣ negative & positive enforcement - opus/gpt generally do the right thing if given the reasons why that is the right thing to do, but glm benefits from explicitly being told what to not do since it loves to misbehave 5⃣ tolerate output variance - glm is worse at outputting correct formats. Tighten up output specification prompts but also consider tolerating greater output variance & using deterministic output cleanup to format things correctly 6⃣ verify outputs, auto retry - glm can return seemingly "successful" but without writing any outputs, it can return weird tooling info in its outputs, there are lots fo weird things that can happen. Ensure to check the outputs for correctness, diagnose the cause of failures & have automated system in place to re-try failed spawns using prompts which instruct the retried agent to correct the errors Perhaps I've just been spoiled by Optus/Gpt but GLM feels quite "rough around the edges" in comparison.

@TonyShepherd4 Where was the communications minister? Some one needed to step up and actually test it! Not like the the bungled Optus uggrade where the 000 outage went unnoticed for hours. Smart and proactive! Not something you Labtards would know anything about Tones.

@CharlesSzulc Telstra will appear before a Senate inquiry into its outage, starting next Friday. Senator Henderson is involved in the (apparently ongoing) Optus one. It'll be be interesting if she now asks questions of Telstra, as will be forthcoming media reports.

@VoteLewko @Starlink Doesn't matter how good Starlink is, I'm never ever dealing with Optus again. So hopefully one of the other telcos comes to an arrangement with them, because it'll require a hybrid network for it to work everywhere and meet regs (e.g. 000 calling).

  • multithreddy
    eddy (@multithreddy) reported

@oscarcsims @haydenmalc maybe it'll happen soon since outsourcing RAN management to cheaper vendors is all the rage in the telecom space right now (Spark just outsourced to Nokia, who was the vendor who was partially responsible for the last Optus 000 outage)

  • Fisherking79
    dan 🀞 (@Fisherking79) reported

@jlandsme_93 The media in WA refuse to press Optus management over it. The drainage system there has issues all the time. The soil develops a slippery biofilm on it due to the **** drainage system

@OneNewsAu optus announced the partnership with starlink on July 12 2023 and telstra announced it on July 3rd 2023, Telstra starlink messaging started June 3 2025 optus? well nothing. "covers blackspots telstra never will" that might make sense if telstra also didn't get starlink messaging
