@michellegrattan @michellegrattan Why no mention at all about the Transport For NSW (Services NSW) data breach that caused untold grief yet noone was told for two years. After the damage was already done. No lessons learned. The Optus breach might have been avoided.

Not piloted, actually

@MoarToast Sorry, drivers licence. It will have a licence number and a card number that the DVS uses to "validate" it as an identity document. Because "only" your licence number was exposed, Optus isn't going to recommend (or pay for) a new licence. Bare minimum support from Optus as usual.

Oh actually, I think I will time how long it takes at Dept of Transport and then send @Optus the bill of me having to waste time away from work because of their blatant disregard for safe betting customer identification.

@Optus @RunnerSA18 This is down to Optus and as a customer that has been advised that I have been compromised I am entitled to more than a cursory email that basically washes Optus’ hands of any further responsibility!

@grbradbury That would mean legislative requirements being amended and there is a very strong chance this will happen. Optus were required (by law) to retain the information.......BUT the information should have been kept secure; this is Optus' problem.

@macsween_prue @Optus I would say 80% of large businesses in this country are at the exact same level of Optus’ competency. And will only heed warnings after the fact - hack the **** out of them till they learn

Question
(@Philssay) reported
Marles said on insiders that optus treat personal info as an asset. What about ID required for mygov or centerlink. The network of private information ,bank accounts, medical and addresses that they have. Why is it OK for the govt to have All this data but not optus.
