daytona (@daytona7th) reported@tim_blee You would think that if you relied on the mobile network to receive payments then you would have a backup should the particular network fail. Maybe have an Optus or Vodafone SIM card handy or re-route your payment system to the NBN? No sympathy for unprepared businesses.

Tweet Whisperer David J Smith (@Ausshot3Dave) reported@strangerous10 And they pushed back at global roaming as well. Happens as a default in most countries. Would save a lot of problems if Telstra or Optus shared their networks when network problems arose with any communications provider in Australia 🇦🇺 @AlboMP

Snuffles 🌸 (@Snuffle16106950) reported@MelbOnTransit @Urban_Immerser Why don't V/line use a back up telco provider beside telstra? So if one goes down they got some form of commication. V/Line should back up Telstra with Optus in case on goes out!
-
Oz Trooper (@TrooperOz) reported@jbulldogs4 Not really as its still ongoing. They told people to use a optus or vodafone device thats not Telstra. Thats some reliable service isnt it. Shouldn’t be happening but probably a overseas disgruntled workers!.

Daniel Buncle (@DanoBuncle) reported@Sammy__Edmund @SENBreakfast The surface at Optus has been **** for years
-
Gooseman (@perthozguy77) reportedOptus Stadium has a drainage problem! ‘Players slipping over because of the pressure’ My ***! Can see the water splashing out beneath them. #AFLFreoSwans

Evans Electric (@tsport100) reportedA guy moved into a new apartment. Only “official” internet was FTTN NBN — $90/month for a pathetic 30 Mbps down max. He called Telstra and Optus. Both said “5G Fixed Wireless not available at your address.” He checked a cell tower map anyway. Half a dozen towers within a couple km. Bought a GL.iNet GL-X3000NR 5G router + built a DIY 4x4 MIMO LPDA external antenna. Result? 800 Mbps download / 170 Mbps upload. 25x faster. $75/month. Same building. Here’s exactly how he did it 🧵

A K (@AK22762976) reported@Birdsperch Clearly no contingency for terrestrial fail [all eggs in one basket] even with satellite backup downlink distribution relies on terrestrial bearers (circuits), Even Optus with satellite support incorporates terrestrial distribution -Contingency planning is key & costs money
-
ARENA 🇦🇺 (@PlayAtArena) reported@HaveeSnowball Actually, the infrastructure and technical side is still handled locally, only the CS is off-shored, but if you looked at the Optus situation involving the numerous problems caused by Singtel, you'd know Telstra is in a much better position to deal with these problems.

A Wheelie Fungi M.Ci🚹♿ (@Antony_Clements) reported@MikeCarlton01 @Telstra That would be vodafone followed by optus and then telstra. Before anyone comes after me, vodafone went down for several months in 2010/2011, optus had a data breach in 2022 that affected nearly 10 million customers. Telstra just inconvenienced people.
