    @karlstefanovic as a customer of @Optus I agree with your frustration, the real question remains why do the telcos need all that private KYC information in the first place…. Is it really necessary considering the risk to the customer.

    While I’m glad I’m not with Optus, my own ISP went down at 10pm last night. No mobile reception where I live either. Finally back online almost 24 hours later.

    @SkyNewsAust Fair enough Labor would have said the same **** in opposition, in saying that what can a government do? It's up to optus to keep us informed and makesure it doesn't happen again not the government FFS.

    The Optus CEO said we should take a “Team Australia” approach to the data breach. She’s right. We should all come together for this. We need stronger data privacy laws. We need companies to be accountable and *liable* for big damage if they make big mistakes.

    @redruby17 @Optus ...Like the time they arbitrarily changed the contract terms without warning a few months into a phone contract, and if I didn't agree to the new terms, they'd classify ME as being in breach of contract & have to pay THEM out? I WAS an optus customer for 15 years until that.

    @OBBY001 @Optus Gee Optus are fast in communicating !! Thought the crisis management team would've said we need to let customers know we are aware of the issue & are investigating it & will update in due course.

    He was very lucky, his mum was a bit of a kickarse lawyer, and all charges were dropped. But I’ve never seen anything since that has changed my mind on how Optus manage their systems (and I tend to know these sorts of things).
