@VictorDominello I certainly would not put my faith in elected officials to control rules around data privacy. If the Optus and Medibank hacks are due to leaked credentials then we need to make systems more idiot proof, but based on the past we know mother nature will just build a better idiot.

My internet has been down for most of the day (thanks again, @Optus) so I'm only just hearing about the mistrial in R v Lehrmann. This strikes me as the possibly the worst outcome for all involved. Justice frustrated.

The ABC has the sheer brazenness to cite the Optus data breach as a reason not to disclose the risk register. Apparently their security is so bad that getting a 2 year old risk register would let hackers get hold of heaps of customer data. #foi

@ClareONeilMP Just another rude loudmouth spruiking about something that won't work. Concentrate on your stuff ups with Optus and Medicare, took a week to get organised.

The hacking problems recently experienced by Medibank & Optus illustrate the need for an ID card. If everyone had one of these it would not be necessary for companies to insist on personal details. The ID number would be sufficient, because all details would be held in one place

@stationmum101 The official word from the NSW govt about the Optus hack is that getting a licence number isn't a big deal as the card number wasn't released as well I didn't even know there was a card number as to my knowledge I've never been asked for it
