  • PerthGas Gerry Prewett (@PerthGas) reported from Westfield, State of Western Australia

So how do the @Optus hackers demand a ransom? What will they ‘return’? Data that they have already copied? The damage has been done and is irreversible.

  • SimonWLewis Simon W. Lewis (@SimonWLewis) reported from Westfield, State of Western Australia

@Optus 6149 how come the mobile internet so slow tonight here?

  • BobPinder Bob Pinder (@BobPinder) reported from Westfield, State of Western Australia

@manthatcooks Give up, if it’s Optus you’re wishing to use then switch to @amaysim go buy a $2 starter sim, follow the instructions and 30 minutes later you’ll be up and running. Better value, fantastic support and, what’s stopping you?

  • benthien_tara Tara Wright (@benthien_tara) reported from Westfield, State of Western Australia

@prairiegirl0028 Optus is like that right at the top. All open and freezing from the wind. Glad I'm down closer to the action now. Not sure we'll remain dry tomorrow night though in new seats. Unless of course it doesn't rain.

  • IEOKIITI1 ᴍɪᴄʜᴀᴇʟ ʙʀᴏᴄᴋ - ꜰɪʟʟᴜᴍ ᴄʀɪᴛɪᴄ (@IEOKIITI1) reported from Westfield, State of Western Australia

@SgtButane @Adrian_Poly shirley wfh doesn’t explain stadia such as optus… timing and location make it pretty difficult to ‘saunter down after work’

  • anthonyspiteri anthonyspiteri.net (@anthonyspiteri) reported from Westfield, State of Western Australia

@drzax What is the suggestion then? All I’m seeing is the media looking to crucify @Optus for… yes a serious incident, but one that happens almost weekly in terms of big breaches.

  • norfee84 northy84 (@norfee84) reported from Westfield, State of Western Australia

@OptusSport @OptusSport @Optus wtf is going on I’m constantly having to switch channels due to streaming issues had to cast from my phone 2nd game I’ve watched and had same issues with the wolves game

@greg_new_farm @GrayConnolly Its not bad for an older somewhat outdated venue. How many games you been to an OPtus?

  • webprofusion Christopher Cook (@webprofusion) reported from Westfield, State of Western Australia

@Optus @iheartguitar If you're interested in alternatives @VodafoneAU had been great especially with their 4G backup, so even if NBN goes down the connection still works. Nowadays internet isn't a luxury, it's livelihood and companies need to step up their game to match.

  • SimonWLewis Simon W. Lewis (@SimonWLewis) reported from Westfield, State of Western Australia

@Dr_Rob_Davis @BlythAJ …and the @optus mobile internet is very slow, so no iView for us.

  • BlayneTreadgold Blayne Treadgold (@BlayneTreadgold) reported from Westfield, State of Western Australia

@BuzLeigh Funny you say that because they are looking into using Optus because of the same cost issues with HBF Park that the Glory has.. 😬

  • mallottk Kath Mallott 😷 #VoteYES❤️💛🖤 (@mallottk) reported from Westfield, State of Western Australia

I'm an #Optus customer, so if a hacker now has my #Optus email address, all I have to do is change to Telstra, or other Server and voila...one problem is solved! 🙌🙌🙌

  • _anjalee Anjalee Patel (@_anjalee) reported from Westfield, State of Western Australia

Optus said ‘yes’ to making customer details public.

  • lainieaquietoz Lainie (@lainieaquietoz) reported from Westfield, State of Western Australia

@ianbfarquhar @shamathahaven And why when I haven't been a customer with Optus for 3 years do they still have my details and now so does someone else

  • thedangerbeard dangerbeard (@thedangerbeard) reported from Westfield, State of Western Australia

@Websta_Black That’s weird, your wireless network isn’t dependent on your internet connection, unless Optus have done something incredibly stupid with your router ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • lainieaquietoz Lainie (@lainieaquietoz) reported from Westfield, State of Western Australia

@Mellie747 @rogueytwinkles I'm an ex customer so no account. I was with Virgin before Optus took them over. Guess I'll just have to wait

Optus Issues Reports

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:

  • KindRegardz msinformation (@KindRegardz) reported

@nickbonyhady It's all compounded by at least 15years (that I could see) of Optus whinging re 'excessive regulation' by Govt. Calls for Govt. to now fix this shitshow are seemingly, unjust. Optus outsourced its network management to Nokia in 2017/18 and shed 170 jobs as it did so.

  • mawso1 Ellena Morse (@mawso1) reported

@drvyom I switched to Moose Mobile last year. Fingers crossed. That's all I can do.( And not click on links). Will optus even bother notifying me if it's just historical data not current data, or am I not their problem any more? Time will tell.

  • Aushiker Aushiker (Andrew) 💉💉💉💉 (@Aushiker) reported

@karenandrewsmp you say regarding @optus that "The Labor government needs to step up and do something, not just talk about these issues," Can you please explain why your government failed to do anything over nine years? Did you just talk about these issues?

  • camyIopez camylopez (@camyIopez) reported

@ClareONeilMP Optus customer here. When I signed my Optus contracts, there was nothing in the contracts allowing my data to be shared with the banks in the case of a breach. They better NOT share any of my info with any banks, I don’t give any permission to do so.

  • GoodyPunch 🕯🐨🔥🐀💧Goody Love Punch (@GoodyPunch) reported

How about Optus pay their fine money directly into those customer’s bank accounts? Then, let customers know that the CEO’s on multi million bucks a year, have decided to reduce their salaries by at least one million, then pass that over to the people affected. #Optus

  • Hareeba 🏇 Hareeba (@Hareeba) reported

@GuardianAus I used to be an Optus customer. I got no email. But hardly surprising as within 30 minutes of dropping them they cancelled my @optusnet email address! Is my data part of this breach? @optus

  • felixroni Veronica Le Nevez (@felixroni) reported

@CrankyGrandma55 @joshgnosis I was an Optus customer for years. They’ve always been this bad. Ditched them for a tassie owned and run broadband company and never looked back.

  • erik_petersen erik petersen (@erik_petersen) reported

@Jeremy_Kirk @latingle @ClareONeilMP Since the early 1970s, encryption has been used to protect sensitive information, so wtf is Optus doing storing drivers licence & passport info as plain text. A security audit would highlight this. Fix it by copying fields to encrypted values in less than a week. I wish!

  • MavaAU Mary-Anne VA (@MavaAU) reported

@joshgnosis Then that there is obviously part of the problem at Optus.

  • caz067 Caz Grayside🏴‍☠️🩼x4💪 (@caz067) reported

Piss poor of the Optus CEO not to front up to the media tonight. 😡 #OptusDataBreach #optus
