@Jeremy_Kirk @allyjfoster Several on the forum and speculating he got paid and now 'backtracking' so Optus don't look stupid!

  • veritychambers Verity Chambers (@veritychambers) reported

@Optus Their customer service has always been woeful, but this is taking it to a new and stratospherically bad level. @optus you are appalling. #OptusHack #OptusDataBreach

  • kary_cee Kary (@kary_cee) reported

@MattSainsb @Optus What? So the hackers had enough details to get a spare sim and get your number on it? That's horrible.

  • borgnik Rob King (@borgnik) reported

@joshgnosis The hacker complained that he/she was unable to contact Optus. Me too, and I'm a customer. It took me almost 4 months to cancel a service. Advice for the hacker: you need to persist to get onto a Level 3 employee. The first responder, Level 1, has no decision-making capability.

  • Richard70746303 Richard (@Richard70746303) reported

@ClareONeilMP As a Optus Customer , I am appalled , that our information has been stolen ! Why do they need, to keep all this information, after we prove 100 points! Surely after they have confirmed who you are, they do not need all those details anymore!

  • MD_Gamification Gamification of Life (@MD_Gamification) reported

Australian phone service provider #Optus has been hacked recently, up to 10M customers are potentially affected, #Optus is required to hold details of customers for about 6 years to comply with Aussie regulations. The hacker has a $1M ransom or they will start selling data

  • dm_wasgaf Dm (@dm_wasgaf) reported

@corruptagenda @LennaLeprena @Optus The problem being if you pay people ridiculous amounts of money, they will spend their time investing that money rather than doing their job.

  • damana Mana (@damana) reported

People will leave @Optus for their response to the data breach and not the breach itself. Just like QANTAS, Optus is putting too much ownership to deal with this on their customers. Aussie companies need to get better at customer service.

  • YungCrowley18 YungCrowley (@YungCrowley18) reported

@9NewsAUS Tbh Optus shouldn’t pay. Never give in to the demand of criminals

  • bullzwool C (@bullzwool) reported

@Peter_F_Ryan If feel terrible for everyone involved, Optus as well. Nobody wants for this to happen
