I have a Vietnamese friend on a work visa who worked for a telecommunications company and now NBN. He often works from 7am to 9pm and in his first job he climbed those towers, often works weekends but never gets paid overtime!

Cdbrown (@BrowntownBrew) reported@robb_j_m What type of connection do you have? Anything with the copper in it such as fttn, fttc and HFC are allowed to drop out about 5 times per day and nbn don't consider it a fault. Fttp is much more reliable and only drops if there's network maintenance

The government could buy every Australian household a starlink dish (2.5x faster than NBN) for <$6B - and we’re still not finished, having spent 10x that. The doomed NBN had the absurdist aim of connecting every sleepy country town with top shelf fibre whilst legally enforcing slow internet in our metropolitan centres (the only places where fibre is even economically viable). This is exactly what the libs predicted at the time and were ridiculed for it. How about just connect the high population centres (you know, the ones who actually need the internet for their livelihoods) and let rural people move to the city if they want 1gbps, and then later spent a few billion buying the rest starlink if we really wanted to continue pissing money up the wall (or just letting them buy it themselves, with their own money, if they really wanted it). You aren’t angry enough.

After the Turnbull NBN debacle and massive cost blowouts we still have inferior IT infrastructure. My internet is slow but works OK, however ph reception is woeful and I'm 40'ks from the coast of seventh largest city.

TK (@tk_bulba) reportedAfter numerous issues with @Telstra NBN were decided to give @Aussie_BB a try. Never again. For a company that prides itself on customer support this is the worst connection experience I’ve encountered. Allegedly now an NBN wide issue is preventing new connections.

Kojrey (@kojrey_codes) reportedThis is the argument for the #NBN few predicted: 1) Spend lots of money to build a national broadband network. 2) Spend even more money to make it Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) by default. 3) Private competitor pops up and offers comparable service, in more geographies, with zero Australian govt money. ....But where some are now (4a) Private competitor drives out public investment (4b) Private competitor CEO becomes hyper-partisan & divisive AND THEN (4c) They decide to use almost-monopoly power to hold citizens hostage with price increases. Kevin07 may have saved us, even if he didn't know it at the time.
