Just tried calling @3AW693 & @TJch9 about the NBN. Yet another rant about how it’s bad, again I tried to say how it’s wonderful if you have @AustralianLabor’s NBN (FTTP). Again bumped after being told I was next for 20 minutes. They put in footy show calls to drop me. #bias

We all know that is exactly why Murky wanted NBN slowed down. Cut out the competition of Foxtel!

@LotL20 Not at all, w/ cable, satellite & wireless NBN, dial up & mobile networks, there’s zero reasons by now that everyone shouldn’t have access. Gov. prioritising electorates with denser populations i.e. more votes, rather than equal distribution of service, as promised a decade ago.

The bastards rang me saying they were NBN. We all know what shit that is! Luckily, I woke up, just, before they got anything - Lucky escape.

I predict in a matter of weeks anyone who voted down labor and their NBN will be complaining when 24 million people try to access Netflix, stan, YouTube and pornhub at 11.45 in the morning.

@PeterJamesRoth6 @PeterDutton_MP Yep, there were definite technical issues from the websites end first few days, then also just a clunky government designed site. I had no problems signing, but think I was ~1,500th signature, before site started crashing. No doubt poor NBN/internet doesn’t help 👍

@davidbewart @nefreus Add to that, latest ABS data (Mar2020) shows 2.5 mill Australians are not online; affordability issues, access/location or lack of digital literacy. 10% of Aussies, no internet, let alone slow internet Successive Govs & NBN failures for an essential service, not a luxury#auspol

@TopherField I've been a happy Starlink customer for years, because the NBN was unable to get reliable internet to my house. Each month Elon gets my money, and I get reliable high speed internet. Each month, we are both better off.

  • wally_waldo83

@Batman2242 A big part of our productivity problem is that starting from the 2010's more of our spending now goes to megatech platforms that extract Australian revenue without the old local multiplier. When $100 went to Ford or Holden, a retailer or a local media company, a large portion recycled through local wages, suppliers, property, logistics and tax. Now when $100 goes to a global ad platform, streaming service or cloud provider much more can disappear offshore through IP, reseller fees and related party charges with far less local employment or supplier spend despite the use of infrastructure like NBN and roads. So government keeps importing demand and taxing workers harder to fund services while more private spending leaks offshore to low local footprint platforms. That extraction is not productive for our economy and is increasingly an issue, especially when profits are being offshored and Australian taxpayers are unfairly carrying the burden.

@olsod45 @BobBurn97207272 @R64862Rvan And a 20 billion dollar annual interest bill and the debt still growing unabated. THE reason your lifestyle is cratering. We are not America slick. That debt is all Labor's. When you announce major infra structure and I mean major! With zero funding put in place to fund it. As your arse is being shown the door. Which Labor does every time and requiring some else to find the money. Then your always going to be working from behind. We were debt free as Howard left office. Then along came Rudd with the NBN and Gillard with the NDIS. Announced with massive fanfare and zero funding. Granted Morrison and the idiot Turnbul didn't help either by throwing money at them. We are heading for a recession (we had to have) but you appear to have your head ensconced in a very dark place.

@taipan168 Many corporatised, but publicly owned, entities provide great service. NBN is pretty good for example. Even Australia Post isn’t bad. Govt doesn’t have to equal bad and is much more preferable in monopoly and quasi-monopoly environments.

@5BNylonTip Kind of like the Coalition govt pumping FTTN tech for the NBN where we'd need Air Conditioned cabinets in the street to cool the active network gear, instead of just installing passive(ish) Fibre Optics. AU is not super intelligent when it comes to tech, from a govt perspective.

@greghammo69 @DarcyAmaroo he is also imitating Abbott .No cuts to Pensions, educ or health NBN 25 megabytes per second by 2016? Linked pensions to wages growth not indexation !Did you scorn him too for his multiple broken promises ? they all do it
