  @Batman2242 Much worse. Starlink is an infinely better service; higher speeds, low latency. NBN satellite cross subsidy alone is more than a starlink subscription. NBN satellites are EOL, they've contracted Amazon's Kuiper for replacement rather than proven starlink 🤪 They hate Elon

  @pigways @Batman2242 NBN satellites have been in service since 2013 that provided a significantly improved service for remote and regional areas. Starlink only arrived in the last few years. Perhaps Amazon was able to meet the design and contract requirements set by #nbn and starlink couldn't.

  A guy moved into a new apartment. Only “official” internet was FTTN NBN — $90/month for a pathetic 30 Mbps down max. He called Telstra and Optus. Both said “5G Fixed Wireless not available at your address.” He checked a cell tower map anyway. Half a dozen towers within a couple km. Bought a GL.iNet GL-X3000NR 5G router + built a DIY 4x4 MIMO LPDA external antenna. Result? 800 Mbps download / 170 Mbps upload. 25x faster. $75/month. Same building. Here’s exactly how he did it 🧵

  Okay plan from here is 4G dongle until my Starlink is delivered and installed. Didn't really want this option but kinda got no choice cause NBN is stupid how they run things.

  @GreenTyler27 I cant remember even 1 gov project being completed on time and on budget. Completely the opposite, snowy 2 ..... How much has the NBN cost us! Jacinta spending spree! The list of failures never ends in Australia

  @CovfefeDnUnder @ianclarkeAU All network types have limits on the bandwidth (speed available to users), even wired ones... It's just that for fixed networks like the NBN, those limits are much, MUCH higher.

  @bazzacc2 Including Malcolm Turnbull who changed the specs of the @NBN_Australia from FTTP to FTTN, thus relying on old copper to transmit from the node to the dwelling It slowed down our broadband speeds significantly to save a few dollars How many billions have we lost in productivity?
