It should be investigated and people charged. I have a Vietnamese friend on a work visa who worked for a telecommunications company and now NBN. He often works from 7am to 9pm and in his first job he climbed those towers, often works weekends but never gets paid overtime!

@NikitaRiseley @markhumphries I don’t think having an NBN service would improve the value of your home. It’s like saying having a water or an electricity service would improve the value of your home.

@markhumphries It’s interesting @NBN_Australia ..what say you? You are one of our large “corporate citizens” with a social license to provide a service. Are you ripping off the likes of @markhumphries or do you assert the repeat “connection fee” is justified, fair and reasonably priced?

@markhumphries Just checking - is there already one of the NBN 'black boxes' at the property? This needs to have been previously installed before an internet service can be provided by Telstra, Optus etc

@markhumphries In this day & age (yes I'll use this phrase), it should be expected all essential services - including internet/NBN (btw they should be the one & the same but it's not) - should be connected by the owner. Tell me it's not an essential service without using the essential service.

@SteveJohnsonCAD @markhumphries Not the actual connecting of the service, that is done by property owners and NBN should be the same, especially since it’s tax deductible to the landlord anyway.

@georbear Yeah exactly. The problem with a lot of connections is you can only connect internet with NBN now, no other option. So if you rent a house with a phone line but no NBN, the provider will only allow for an NBN connection. With that comes the $300 setup fee.
