oh but the internet is killing me. reception here is horrible and the nbn modem isn't delivered yet 🥲

  • Buftie9 Sean Wootton (@Buftie9) reported

@vaughantobewild @markhumphries @NBN_Australia Why? ‘Someone wants to charge someone $300 to install the service into their home, but the owner doesn’t want to pay it?’ Better go to the ombudsman.

  • hutcho66 James Hutcheon (@hutcho66) reported

@SteveJohnsonCAD @markhumphries Part of the issue is that there's nothing stopping a landlord advertising a property as "NBN ready" because the NBN has done the physical install, even though the connection fee hasn't been paid.

  • hutcho66 James Hutcheon (@hutcho66) reported

@julie_library @markhumphries In apartment buildings etc, the developer pays to get all the wiring done and the main connection to NBN, but each apartment has to pay the fee for someone to allocate a line to the individual apartment. That fee can't be prepaid by the owner, it gets paid on first service.

@belyndar @markhumphries Thats why I laugh at all the people who say just get 4G/5G. The number of black spots for 4/5G are huge and often in unexpected places. Got a call from my mother just last week saying her phone doesn't work. Turns out her NBN was down and that's how she connects to mobile

  • _SocialDemocrat Leftwing Bastard (@_SocialDemocrat) reported

@markhumphries Its never cost me a cent to get NBN installed.

  • VoxExSinister DeusINXS (@VoxExSinister) reported

@DaveColvin @markhumphries They only give you a router, not the actual NBN modem. Also, TPG has turned to crap over the last year or so. The final straw for me was trying to phone them to upgrade my plan & I couldn't get through on their sales line. I ended up switching to Aussie Broadband.

  • edwardian_times Edward Carroll (@edwardian_times) reported

@BrendanFosterrr @spargles @hamhammer27 How about intentionally screwing the NBN? Not to mention how bad the process of the plebiscite was, and how he kowtowed to Dutton et al

  • sam_therman Sam Harrison (@sam_therman) reported

@NBN_Australia @jeremydein How did the CEO claim 1.2 million dollars of tax payer bonuses on top of 3 million dollar salary for a internet service that doesn’t work outside every CBD town and city in Queensland? Who takes bonuses for a failed company? Corruption in its purest form.

  • SusanPFinney Susan (@SusanPFinney) reported

@markhumphries IMHO landlords should have a list of things that are necessary, but a renter would never want to pay for as it adds to the value of the home. Such as insulation, PV cells, efficient water heaters, r/c air conditioning, nbn etc etc before they are allowed to rent it out. 🤔
