  @JEChalmers Who are you trying to fool Jimbo. Responsible economic management means paying down the debt, not adding to it. Most of that debt is from Labors failed policies. NDIS & NBN ring a bell? The commitments were made under Labor. As for Covid it was Labor pushing for more spending!

  @JohnnyLydon I just moved to a new NBN provider. While researching, Canstar, Whistleout and others just gave me the same handful of companies to choose from. After asking AI (both Grok and ChatGPT) I ended up with a huge list of potentials with some real good deals. Comparison sites are ****.

  The nbn is down rn and dodo’s report says it started at 12:58 and the NBN reckon it started at 16:29 which is. Probably incorrect

  @TopherField I didn't say I was against Starlink, what I'm saying is people can wax lyrical about this being disruptive 15 years after the NBN was started to sound prophetic when it was not a viable solution 15 years ago

  @geofiasco @DHughesy @aaronsmith Aside: Whether the Telstra sale was ultimately a windfall is contested. It raised $60bn to sell the assets, then we spent $60bn on NBN Co just to regain access to the assets sold and duplicate/upgrade the network we sold - and Telstra has paid something like $80-85bn in shareholder dividends along the way. In many respects, NBN shouldn't exist. It should have been the $80-85bn in "shareholder dividends" to the Public Owner that paid for the fibres to be laid - not a $60bn investment after a $60bn sale. But NBN was forced to be created after a now-shareholder-owned Telstra responded to how it might build a national broadband network with a non-compliant 12 page letter effectively saying "we won't - the copper wires are our privately-owned monopoly and we want to protect our market monopoly".

  @TopherField I'm in regional Victoria and there's NBN fixed wireless, someone has to come to your home, drill holes and install cables and a antenna on the roof that's if you are in line of sight of the tower, it is slow, people around me have just got Starlink instead, it's a game changer

  Ummm. I don’t mean to be “that guy” but, has anyone else noticed that the #EmergencyAlert test seems to have, ya know, crashed the internet in Australia? #NBN is down everywhere. Phone internet seems to be okay. This could get interesting.

  @Riogallica @nbn @Starlink The only problem with starlink is they can put the price up any time they feel, I was with them 2 months and they upped the price. If you want to go elsewhere in under 12 months you have to pay for the hardware, around $500 I think. Having said that, the service is ok.
