Right wing populism is a virus for stupid people..

@RyanWil62993886 @kimbakit Any NBN cost blowout is down to the LNP making use of the old copper instead of the original FTTP which now has to be used to replace the copper anyway. The stupid LNP took that to the 2013 election saying it was going to be cheaper. Nothing the LNP do is ever cheaper or smart.

@hula_grl @Darthspoog Resilience is a system attribute. We have broken systems designed to let for profit operators in. Fragility and unreliability built in by design eg NBN, social support, even current building regs and appalling flood plain devlp plans. No risk margin, no contingency allowance.

@2_dollars_20 About 10 mins here, gotta see if you can upgrade or get it fixed Our FTTN was really crap and would drop out a lot, we complained enough until NBN came out and spent ages tinkering and got it from 10 upload at best to 40 easily

It took 36 hours but the lightning strike seems to have fried my NBN modem as well. :( It locked up hard at the time, and apparently it took some time for the damage to become fully apparent. Makes sense - the telephone and antenna lines are both unshielded, and both failed.

@KetanJ0 Compare with my previous wireless NBN, where there seems to be a single uplink that can die. If a power outage exceeds the battery backup, you're stuffed (though I hear they're working on hybrid solar-battery setups which would be great).

@abcnews Best thing I did was get Starlink. I can’t even get ADSL2 at my house let alone NBN (cable stops 1km from my house) and during lockdown only one person could be on the net at a time. Starlink was a game changer and their customer service is amazing

@Gundy38940340 @thespecialbka Yeah- It’s not easy to shop around during catastrophic natural disasters tho. NBN was out also - starlink saved the community, donated from by local- so the emergency centre had wifi. Starlink is it is way to this property
