It should be investigated and people charged. I have a Vietnamese friend on a work visa who worked for a telecommunications company and now NBN. He often works from 7am to 9pm and in his first job he climbed those towers, often works weekends but never gets paid overtime!

@optus_help @Optus I understand that’s your automatic response but did you even read anything? There are no outages because I am UPGRADING TO NBN. The issues being my internet connection being horrible, dropping out etc. My roommate uses cloud gaming services, does that effect it?

  • badtztass Nick Koh (@badtztass) reported

@QuentinDempster let's be brutally honest. NBN in its current design, is a dog's breakfast and outdated. we need to be upfront that the internet technology will never be great or we embark get latest technology now. it's like buying a 4G or 5G phone, boils down to the $$ we are willing to spend.

  • Jason2Wazza JasonWazza (@Jason2Wazza) reported

@Kris_etc_ Australian internet is only crappy if you got any version of the LNP NBN. Fiber to the home is really good. Fiber to the node can either be really good or bad (proximity to the node, if your next to the node you basically get the FTTH quality) Anything else is bad.

  • LilithsDeadttv Lilith (@LilithsDeadttv) reported

@TheForensics01 I’m on a contract with Optus. Trying to upgrade the nbn. To hopefully fix my ping issue. The problem I’m facing possibly is that my roommate is using cloud gaming services for all or most of his games. It uses way more of the download speed. I’m frustrated.

  • JezJerro Jeremy Mitchell (@JezJerro) reported

@25MMCC @Kris_etc_ True, and from memory even deeper roots in Howard's (the root of so many evils) privatisation of Telstra - the NBN original FTTP (higher speed) plan threatened the profits of shareholders (aka Howard's mates) in the copper network

  • AlanDownunder Alan Luchetti (@AlanDownunder) reported

@Kris_etc_ Malcolm Turnbull crippled Labor’s NBN with fibre to the node instead of fibre to the home. He did it on Abbott’s orders. Abbott was following the orders of Murdoch who didn’t want streaming competition against his Foxtel cable network.

  • hiddenhunting hiddenhunting.sol / Shane (@hiddenhunting) reported

@gewch_ They held a monopoly on the fixed network for years. Now that NBN runs it, they actually have to compete… even moving some call centres back local. But this is what happens when you keep cutting costs and squeezing for profit.

  • BrowntownBrew Cdbrown (@BrowntownBrew) reported

@MarkBKK4 @skkoopman @CommonLawAU And the LNP version of the #nbn was written on a used piece of toilet paper as that's the only valid reason for delivering such crap

  • David_J_Harley David J Harley (@David_J_Harley) reported

@Telstra NBN Co seems to be the problem then. I live in a unit over a shop, so it seems they were connected but my unit wasn't. I'm trying to start a business and the service isn't good enough even though I'm only using about 1GB a day. Lag time and dropouts are common. Next to useless.
