    It should be investigated and people charged. I have a Vietnamese friend on a work visa who worked for a telecommunications company and now NBN. He often works from 7am to 9pm and in his first job he climbed those towers, often works weekends but never gets paid overtime!

    @OperationalInc1 Whenever the NBN low-earth orbit satelitte service kicks off (Amazon's burgeoning network), the backup should switch to that. Aside from some parts of inner Perth/Melb/Syd/Bris, all of the rail network is on the surface and will be able to uplink, I would have thought.

    @BeauGiles Typically, no. For the cost of a backup device/SIM/NBN or even Starlink, it would pay for itself in an hour of an outage like this!

    @sofewcharacters @VoteLewko @2GB873 Yes it is, but Starlink is terrible in cities, built up areas, and areas with lots of tree cover. It degrades pretty significantly in bad weather. It would also be terrible with a cities worth of people connected..... network congestion is a problem for satelite solutions (similar to the mobile network). Getting rid of the nbn network would be a monumentally bad idea.

    @SharkaByrne @newscomauHQ I paid extra to keep it at the time, so it would be accessible when nbn goes down. Or so I thought. Not sure what I paid extra for ( possibly another outlet )but it didn’t work, totally useless when it’s down. So much for progress.

    @VoteLewko @Starlink I have a fixed and a mobile Starlink and neither have let me down, the NBN & our mobile phone network on the other hand is the opposite.

    @1Alboforpm Considering Labor designed the NDIS, Libs and Labs together gave us the NBN, Libs and Labs the submarine fiasco? How's the tax on tobacco going in stopping smoking as opposed to feeding organised crime? Pot / kettle Their sudden growth will result in messes, poor communication and confusion between newly formed members but their sudden growth is do to the F up by these 2 major parties. Oh... and ...     @TopherField I've been a happy Starlink customer for years, because the NBN was unable to get reliable internet to my house. Each month Elon gets my money, and I get reliable high speed internet. Each month, we are both better off.
