Why is there always daily emergency maintenance on my NBN? @NBN_Australia @Aussie_BB

  • _marty_k
Marty K (@_marty_k) reported from Sydney, New South Wales

@Aussie_BB I’ll have to call in later, but you definitely have the updated email as I’ve been getting invoices there for many months now. Is there a separate system that sends out the NBN outage notification that doesn’t just use current email on file?

  • fictillius
Sagittarius A* (@fictillius) reported from Sydney, New South Wales

@ScottRhodie It’s so stupid that developers are even allowed to do this. They should be required to install the fibre and provide the hand off to NBN. Same for embedded energy networks too.

  • fromthewonni

@PaulFletcherMP I have NBN I live about 30ks from the city of Sydney My modem since the day it was installed tells me there’s no signal I was unable to work from home during the lockdown because the Internet dropped in and out all day making work impossible to complete efficiently or effectively

  • yeoldeguildford
Daniel Eastwood (@yeoldeguildford) reported from Sydney, New South Wales

@Telstra Yes NBN stuffed it up. They put our cable in the wrong port, or the other way around. Either way, it's fixed now, and your company didn't fix it. I still have an outstanding fault when I called the automated message 10 minutes ago. I need my account closed. Mobile to remain ...

LNP: planned MurrayDarling - FAIL, planned NBN - FAIL, planned quarantine - FAIL, planned vaccine acquisition - FAIL, dragged kicking and screaming to JobKeeper. Trust them on climate change? #kickthismobout

  • dgaust
dg (@dgaust) reported from Sydney, New South Wales

@troyhunt @home_assistant @Aussie_BB You'll probably need to turn on smart queues on your UDM Pro (I think I recall you have one of these). Otherwise the NBN policer will throw a fit on uploads and you'll get horrible upload results.

  • sharon_longmore
🖤💛❤️ Sharon Lee Longmore (@sharon_longmore) reported from Sydney, New South Wales

@alvinfoo It’s still much the same in Australia with the ridiculous fibre to the node nbn instead of to the home. Our hopelessly slow speeds & that’s if you even have access to the nbn. That’s what our idiot cheapskate LNP govt have given Australia amongst a litany of costly failures.

  • DianaRyall
🌱 Diana Ryall AM 🌏🌈🇳🇿🇷🇼💧 (@DianaRyall) reported from Sydney, New South Wales

We are a decade behind with fast internet. Do you trust the #LNP to fix the #nbn? If not, #PutLNPLast

  • Boatyboy1
Boatyboy (@Boatyboy1) reported from Sydney, New South Wales

@DoctorKarl So sad that NBN is a fail completely system, rather than a Failsafe system.

  • dhawaldamania
Dhawal Damania (@dhawaldamania) reported from Sydney, New South Wales

Extremely unacceptable practice by @VodafoneAU cancelled my NBN when I specially asked them not to, not once but 3 times #fail #switchtotelstra .. customer service is helpless

  • Ilovedaisy66
    Junior (@Ilovedaisy66) reported

@TopherField Worst decision I made getting nbn. Nothing but issues since installation. Massive lemon. Stay away.

  • Cameronmac67
    Cameron (@Cameronmac67) reported

@TopherField Kevin07 rammed an uncosted NBN idea through with ~$10b funding. Next gov continued despite true costs far higher & timelines half of actual. Downgraded to cut costs so never as promised. Both major parties keep pouring money into bad ideas like this. did someone say NDIS?

  • jway1969
    Johannes Weissman (@jway1969) reported

@Starlink How about Australia has a quarter decent NBN Howard was promised one for 4.5 billion in 2004.. but Liberterians OMG globalist atlas network doesn't support actual capitalism just forced brand buying and interrupting aholed

  • michael_timbs
    Michael Timbs (@michael_timbs) reported

******* perfect. Set up some remote spot instances to distribute some compute. Set up Claude to monitor and tear down when finished. Quick health probe to make sure everything is fine, about to log off for the night and NBN outage hits immediately. Could not be worse timing

  • TCatley
    Cattom (@TCatley) reported

@Adam_and_EVs My friend just followed me to do the same. NBN is terrible. If we had proper fibre probably a different situation but

  • RMalicai
    Ray malicai (@RMalicai) reported

@TheKouk Absolute bullshit, we were 0 under Howard, then 747 went big, Gillard and Rudd again, nbn commitments etc. Abbott slowed it down then Morrison due mostly to covid made it jump and now albo and jimflation have rocked it past 1t. You clowns can’t count

  • ach_river84952
    River Ach (@ach_river84952) reported

@Nirgal451 @cmkusher Let’s check the record: Labor's NBN was full-fiber before the LNP sabotaged it into slow, costly copper. Inland Rail was botched by LNP scope creep, & NDIS white-anted by poor oversight. For economic reform stock with Labor. Vision didn't fail; execution was gutted by the LNP.

  • SydneyCityTV
    SydneyCityTV (@SydneyCityTV) reported

Here in Sydney, we're still waiting for the Nine Network's switch to a mostly MPEG4 multiplex which among other things, will bring with it 9LifeHD. No idea if they're waiting for NBN to move out before making that change or what, but I guess patience is a virtue in any case!

  • johnnymoo1969
    Johnnymoo1969 (@johnnymoo1969) reported

@NBN_Australia @ausgov Too bad you can jam it - Starlink here I come - hope Starlink destroys NBN

  • TopherField
    Topher Field (@TopherField) reported

I've said time and again that the NBN is a white elephant, and that it would be destroyed by competition... IF competition were allowed. Of course like-for-like competition is NOT allowed... the NBN have a monopoly on wired internet... but guess what? They're STILL being out-competed by the private sector anyway, because wireless technology has come a LONG way fast... After all the tens of billions we've spent, Australia still only ranks 43 on internet speeds (worse on some lists, I'm being generous) and still users are turning to the private sector because the NBN cannot help them where they are. Amazing. Government never makes things better, it only gets in the way of the private sector who WOULD make things better... if the government weren't in the way.
