Granville #AussieResister (@Granville4879) reported from Cairns, Queensland@TurnbullMalcolm @rhysam I have to assume you are speaking out of ignorance of technology. PSTN is cat 3 copper with a theoretical maximum of 10 Mbps. And voice calls over my NBN connection are such poor quality we mostly cannot understand the majority.

💧Le voyageur (@LeVoyageurOz) reported from Cairns, QueenslandAnd right on cue my NBN goes down. That should be a huge election issue. #QandA

Jake Reid (@jakemreid) reported from Cairns, Queensland@LalitaMathias @JoshFrydenberg @SkyNewsAust Airwaves cause NBN doesn't work 🤡 Gee wizz - we could even stream it live but for copper. How good would fibre be 🤦🏽😡
-
Daniel Rose (@dgr_dgr) reported from Cairns, Queensland@HansOrph @deccles26 @NBN_Australia @Foxtel NBN outages is one of the reasons I selected @VodafoneAU for my NBN provider. 4G backup kicks in automatically if the network falls over. Worth considering changing to them if you need/want seamless internet

Jake Jeffreys (@jeffreys_jake) reported from Meringa, Queensland@BazzaCC @Telstra Same thing here. SLAV (@therealslav84) reported from Cairns, Queensland@Halit95429397 @Foxtel I was a customer for over 15 years. After 15 years due to my travel forgot to pay my account I was 1 day late. No empathy no care and would not drop the late fee. So I cancelled. That was full Platinum IQ4, with 4 boxes and nbn. Their reply.... we dont care,

Granville#AussieResister (@Granville4879) reported from Cairns, Queensland@roastthekipfler @AusIndiMedia My NBN service over the last 3 or 4 days has been very poor. I did try G4 a while back but that wasn't very consistent either. I am waiting for the arrival of G5 in my area in the hope that may actually work as advertised.

Moods Moody (@MoodsMoody) reported from Cairns, QueenslandWorst NBN plans and providers revealed in new report Biggest scam going way to much for any internet way over budget way over cost. And to have Telstra run makes even a bigger con job .. Good one Rudd you fool ..How much Rudd

Kate Cunningham (@KateHamilton88) reported from Cairns, QueenslandLet me guess @Telstra you want me to call your incompetent staff again... HOW ABOUT FIX THE PROBLEM NOW!!!! 2000236045330 otherwise I'm taking my 2 mobiles (BYO), NBN and foxtel to another provider..
-
Granville#AussieResister (@Granville4879) reported from Cairns, Queensland@jonesy2794 @TwitterSupport I feel lucky as a restart of the phone seems to have fixed it for now. Or I could just blame NBN as I have also gone to the mobile network.

Samuel ⏳ (@osborne_sam) reported@ItsMissShorty @robb_j_m Just want to help you with your terminology. Wifi (802.11x) is free, it’s the technology between the router/modem and your device. NBN or Internet service provider is the ongoing cost. You can use NBN and not use Wifi, you plug a network cable between the router and your computer. If you hotspot your phone or have a 5G hotspot device, that still uses Wifi between that device and the other devices connected to it. You’re still using Wifi if you have multiple devices using the mobile data. All you’ve changed is the internet connection from being NBN (which is typically fibre, phone line, or point to point wireless (not WiFi) - and maybe the latter is what you go rid of and have conflated the two different wireless technologies. Considering you are likely still using Wifi, and now also 5G, health benefits aren’t improved. A healthier alternative is NBN or Starlink and cable connection (but obviously phones and many devices don’t support cables).

Aus throttle (@austhrottle) reportedI usually hate most government spending, but sometimes they get things right. The inland rail was a good project. Cancelling the inland rail is a terrible decision. It is just as important as the NBN, and in this case there isn’t a foreseeable technology that will replace it in 10 years time. Rail is insanely energy and labor efficient compared to trucks. Trucks should only be used for end of journey in a well optimised system.

P J Bird 😷 Vaxed 🎶 🌈 🇺🇦 🇯🇴 🏴 (@PJbird_01) reported@suzanne2222 Another LNP disaster just like the NBN has cost Aussies billions to fix
-
Retro MoJo 🇦🇺 🧡 (@Mac80277103) reported@GreenTyler27 Yep, our respective Government's have stunning track records of gross incompetence in the planning and rollout of large infrastructure projects, resulting massive costs overruns paid for by the tax payer. Remember Labor's start the original NBN "fibre to the premises" rollout and its massive unplanned cost overruns? Then along comes the LNP's moronic attempt to cut costs by a change over to a crap "fibre to the node" hook-up and other "hybrid" connection types. We still deal with this high cost to maintain mish-mash today this very day. End result, we've been quietly paying for the dismantling and replacement of the LNP's substandard "FTTN" with "FTTP" as originally planed, and thus, billion's $$$ wasted.

anthony, underclass prole cat, edwards (@anthony45052793) reported@THATS_RIGHT_YA @robb_j_m nbn fixed wireless made me pay for 50mbps plan if i wanted to get 25mbps <two mbps faster than the adsl service it replaced> for 4 years, if i dropped to the 25mbps plan would deliver 12.5mbps. took them 6 years to deliver the 100Mbps plans they promised at launch.
-
Cdbrown (@BrowntownBrew) reported@robb_j_m What type of connection do you have? Anything with the copper in it such as fttn, fttc and HFC are allowed to drop out about 5 times per day and nbn don't consider it a fault. Fttp is much more reliable and only drops if there's network maintenance

Leo Puglisi (@Leo_Puglisi6) reportedUnfortunately @6NewsAU won’t have live by-election coverage tonight (NBN issue) but this is a great thread for Farrer We will have reporting later in the night once results have been reported!
-
Baiaphilia (@baiaphilia) reportedWhat happened was what always happens when it's a project run by the government. It failed miserably, and went way over budget. The NBN was so bad I begged my provider to give me back my previous internet connection. But they couldn't because they forced them to shut it down.
-
Sharon Dresser (@DresserC33944) reported@dpoddolphinpro @Amazonleo @Starlink but ryan starlink is actually useable across most of the globe, leo isnt...and its latency is so slow is only good for wathcing the NSF streams , yeah its still faster than the NBN here in Australia with our crappy fibre to the node than four core coppeer to the home,
-
M (@imboudee) reported@Justme136160 @robb_j_m To be fair, David is not wrong. Telcos will use the NBN infrastructure as they see fit. It’s cheaper to pay to use the NBN infrastructure that is already there than to lay down their own fibre. In fact, telcos like Optus and Telstra are already NBN providers.
