The business was a cash cow. Telstra would send tens of thousands of dollars every month, yrs after our rel’ship to the customer had faded to nothing. Most ppl would buy a phone and we’d never see them again but Telstra kept sending us 3% of the value of their monthly phone bill.

@Telstra oh well...CEO says sorry, that should alleviate the suffering of the family that suffered the loss. WTF is wrong with u people no F* emotional intelligence ! Typical of the 1% group in this country. Noting that the PM @AlboMP have not said a word. TYPICAL !

@tim_blee Regardless of the $20,000, you know all systems run on Telstra including eftpos, systems etc?? Your comment sounds rather dumb that you keep emphasising the phone not working

@MikeCarlton01 @Telstra Hmmm well they are descended from the Post Master General in 1975 when they became Telecom, then privatised in 2006 and became Telstra. They haven't really screwed up since that time. Customer service may be abyssmal but the national framework has operated well in a big country.

@TimLooker @ABCaustralia I used to work in Telcos. Even in the UK, Telstra was considered the gold standard, If you had traffic problems and could re-route calls over Telstra, it was a no-brainer. It should never have been privatized. Just like Qantas!

@DancingDanB If the reports that Telstra insisted on exclusivity and there was no ability to have a backup with a different carrier are true, blaming the Victorian government or any entity involved in operating the network is wrong.

@ruseethruable @MikeCarlton01 @Telstra out here landlines fail the moment the power goes out, no battery or generator backup at our exchange. mobile has 4 hour battery backup. our grid provider, essential energy, likes to schedule regular 8 hour outages for maintenance.

PK: If someone has died due to Telstra outage...this is a huge problem for Telstra and for the gov. These ghouls don't give one **** about human life.

@SkyNewsAust By that logic, all the Telstra CEO has to do as apologise and the issue of the outages will be closed.

Ackland what a dud about as sincere and honest as the CEO and your over priced plans @Telstra Investing capital = outsourcing to companies like @VentiaServices and have a look at the state of the Network Sites they get millions to maintain

@BerryAndBitty @griffonboi @VLine GSM-R or even FRMCS isn't suited for Australia's dense landmass... First of all the latter is essentially 5G which due to its use of higher frequencies essentially means you'll need to duplicate the entire Telstra network (plus more) to achieve anything
