The business was a cash cow. Telstra would send tens of thousands of dollars every month, yrs after our rel’ship to the customer had faded to nothing. Most ppl would buy a phone and we’d never see them again but Telstra kept sending us 3% of the value of their monthly phone bill.

@lke73_historian When I was arguing with them my mum (who was visiting) was frightened and kept trying to give me money to pay, I said “NO it’s a matter of principle” - see how seniors often don’t question things? Telstra disgust me. I would never be their customer again.

  • RosReines ros reines (@RosReines) reported

@Telstra hey guys, just been told my apartment doesn’t exist but the whole building has had NBN for years. Help #telstrawbj

  • twensor twensor (@twensor) reported

That a once respected public service organisation -- Telstra (thinking of the Telecom era) -- now actively engages in predatory sales tactics on the most vulnerable punters in the country is beyond disgraceful. No fine is adequate. The whole Board should resign. #abc730 #auspol

  • Aus_Thai62 Aus_Thai (@Aus_Thai62) reported

@9NewsAUS No wonder they cant afford reasonable Customer service nowadays?? Telstra is getting to be an embarrassment to Australia

  • KarlCottonSpy John ******* (@KarlCottonSpy) reported

@D_Melissa2 Well done to all who stood up to Telstra but this should never have happened. But looks like the fine should have been bigger as Telstra and ASIC “agreed” on a suitable fine. Nothing for those impacted beyond being “allowed” to keep their phones.

  • jcholle john (@jcholle) reported

@DrRimmer They rang up my sister and told her she could have a tablet as a reward for being such a good, long term customer. The bill came a month later so the tablet went back. And she is still a Telstra customer, albeit a distrusting one.

  • kittycati Elizabeth Simpson (@kittycati) reported

@ABCaustralia @abc730 I rang up Telstra and spoke to a staff member who could not understand what I wanted to cancel the new contract and have no internet only a phoneline. It took me to say “they don’t have a computer or even use the data on their mobile phones” for the person to get it & cancel it.

@lke73_historian I’m with iiNet for everything, have been for decades. Wonderful people. They were honest when they couldn’t provide the wifi service we were looking for (hence my ill fated Telstra experience) never again!
