The business was a cash cow. Telstra would send tens of thousands of dollars every month, yrs after our rel’ship to the customer had faded to nothing. Most ppl would buy a phone and we’d never see them again but Telstra kept sending us 3% of the value of their monthly phone bill.

@AlboMP Use the money from the Telstra outage fine for medical research into these illnesses! Stop lining your own pockets (increase Job Seeker & the DSP so people living with these conditions have more dignity & can afford medication & medical appointments that take months to wait for).

@Telstra Good PR, this. Short term, the outage was a bit of a disaster, but accepting responsibility and learning from it internally is the right way to move on. Crazy that something as simple as NTP can cause a rolling cascade, but that's the nature of the beast.

@Telstra The same reason I left Telstra. Can’t identify how to fix issues only make them worse. Hire skilled labour instead of retards or perish

It was all the go in the 1980s to make up for the inflation created by the Vietnam War and the abrupt increase in oil prices. That’s when we got the economic rationalists - tax cuts for the rich, razor gangs for everyone else. Welfare and public service cuts, deregulation of banks and privatisation. Back story is interesting - same folks at work behind the scenes. Yes, GDP went up, but wealth only flowed to the top end. At least Labor under pressure, only semi privatised Telstra and retained controlling shares. Qantas was different. Comm Bank should have at least mostly stayed public -my Mum only had a chance at getting a house because of it, but if we add in subsidies and failures, it has largely cost taxpayers far more and not just financially.
