Your support is horrendous. I had garbage speeds with Telstra, but at least they were available almost 24 hours a day.

if telstra suddenly became more valuable after it was sold off to be run by someone other than the government, and that keeps happening, then doesn't that mean that the government is very bad at running things

@WInsufficientia @Totally4yeah @PaulBongiorno Aside: My understanding is you should never privatise a natural monopoly. So Telstra or Transgrid, SECV etc would fall into that category. Banks probably ok as numerous.

@peters_malcolm Do you really think that government owner Telstra was better and would have modernised better? The company that opposed accountability, tried to slow the progress of mobile telephony, resisted competition, fought to frustrate services that used the telecommunications network….

What can possibly go wrong? Recent Telstra outage reminds us. Can't wait for "computer says no'."

@WInsufficientia Telstra may be a private corp, but Albanese’s Labor government literally contracts Telstra to run Triple Zero — the federal emergency call service. That’s why ACMA and the Triple Zero Custodian are investigating right now, and why Labor can hit them with up to $30 million in fines. Your history lesson is sloppy: partial sales started under Hawke/Keating Labor, final tranches under Howard. But that was 20 years ago. Albanese has been “fixing the LNP/PHON mess” since 2022 — and the result under his watch is a software bug that wiped out 600+ Triple Zero calls, stopped trains, triggered hundreds of welfare checks, and may have killed someone. Blaming 1997–2006 ghosts while your government fails to enforce basic oversight on critical infrastructure today is pure deflection. Stop whitewashing another Labor failure, puppet.

Does it work during a nationwide Telstra outage, asking for all travellers...

@strangerous10 A lot of people forget the NBN was in part to shift the fixed broadband service monopoly from Telstra.

@aclennell @SkyNewsAust Joyce keeps talking about guardrails? We have them. They’re the laws of the land. There’s nothing more dangerous than someone like Joyce who interprets his own version of the law and who it applies to. More dangerous than a Telstra outage.
