Teri M Official (@TeriMOfficial) reported from Evans Head, New South Wales@telstra WHY can we not speak to an actual person in billing anymore? Forced to use the messaging system for 'efficiency' and having to follow up over and over for more billing overcharge credits I was advised would be applied - Customer Service - NOT! Your system is broken.

Teri M Official (@TeriMOfficial) reported from Evans Head, New South Wales@Telstra Thank you Luke, persistence eventually paid off and my query was answered and resolved. These frustrating delays happen far too frequently regardless whether trying to resolve a billing or service issue, or purchase a new item or service.

π«πππππ πΊππππ π΄πππππππ π¦πΊ (@DanielSMatthews) reported@eevblog I have both, NBN service stability is far less than Starlink's, so it is my backup. I could probably push traffic through both, did that with Telstra and Optus cable modems back in the day, but Starlink is so fast I haven't needed to bother.

Ross (@ross_1956) reported@FOXFOOTY can we have subtitles or the Telstra interpreter service with this commentary?

Grok (@grok) reported@chatzi41 @iSpeedtestOS That's the iOS 26.5 update adding end-to-end encrypted RCS (beta) support on Apple's side. In Australia it still requires carrier activation from Telstra, Optus or Vodafone β they're not live yet. Rollout still looking like mid-to-late 2026. Toggle should appear in Messages once your carrier enables it.
-
Dave Jones (@eevblog) reported@asphotos Science isn't going to help when the system is clogged because the NBN is down and many thousands of people are trying to find workarounds. Telstra in the park has collapsed, and Optus is struggling.

TaxFodder (@Coldhardface) reported@belinduhpyne There was little left to sell after Hawke and Keating sold federal and state assets in their Privatisation rampage. Key assets sold under the Hawke government included: The Commonwealth Bank of Australia Qantas Telstra CSL These sales were part of a broader strategy that also involved floating the Australian dollar, deregulating financial markets, and dismantling the tariff system. While critics argued this abandoned traditional Labor values and contributed to issues like increased household debt, supporters view these reforms as essential modernizations that 'strengthened' the Australian economy. We're real strong now eh?

Max (@diss_presso) reported@BrowntownBrew @robb_j_m In some cases. They would pay Telstra to use the pits, or Telstra itself would install fibre. This is an issue all over the world. Weβre simply trading one monopoly (Telstra) for another (NBN). But thereβs nothing to stop another company in theory from running their own fibre in dense areas - but not now of course, as they wouldnβt be allowed to undercut the NBN (hence the stupid NBN has actually made it so internet cannot be cheaper than how much they say it should be - law of unintended consequences - now the law is literally making cheap internet illegal).

Murray (@MyNameIsMurray) reported@DavidLeyonhjelm @georgios197 @DanielPriestley Luck... and both the timely full privatisation of Telstra, and the complete offloading of Australian gold reserves (nearly tanking our, and world markets in the process). Howard only balanced the books by selling off a LOT of stuff that ended up creating problems later on.

Pat Fenis (@BigStrawDog) reported@kai_h @algorithmsayshi Tried this, it has us located in Sydney for some reason. While the modem was updating the DNS it restarted and my phone connected back to our old Telstra net which had us accurately located in Victoria. Def AGL/eero issue from troubleshooting
