Sean Nicoara (@snicoara) reported@Telstra Why not tell the whole truth though? You failed to update or replace hardware that was providing ntp to your network for years past eol and your network died because of it. That's just sheer negligence.

I see two key issues I The equipment maintenance failure II The infrastructure configuration didn't confine the outage to one region or state. Infrastructure needs to be rebuilt so future outages are confined.

Mark Flynn (@mjfly1) reported@titchashen Yeah, once upon a time a change like this was tested in a dedicated test & evaluation lab that represented the network, including redundancy, but it looks like now Telstra, but hopefully not other critical service providers, don’t bother. Guess they don’t have test staff anymore
