  @djshaneday @Telstra Ordinarily no but knew wouldn’t be able 2 pay next bill on date, @telstra advise no ‘top-ups’ b4 them issuing bill so DD next option. Dutifully signed up, due date came, no debit at midnight, rang, told their fault, I had paid up, but ‘fined’ $15. Never,ever DD w @telstra peeps!

  @Telstra Thanks Tanasha, advised that I pay next bill incl the $15 fine & then seek a reimbursement. That is not acceptable & I refuse to waste further time over a @telstra error. The fine should not be charged in the first place - I alerted #Telstra to the issue!

  @WInsufficientia @PaulBongiorno Telstra may be a private corp, but Albanese’s Labor government literally contracts Telstra to run Triple Zero — the federal emergency call service. That’s why ACMA and the Triple Zero Custodian are investigating right now, and why Labor can hit them with up to $30 million in fines. Your history lesson is sloppy: partial sales started under Hawke/Keating Labor, final tranches under Howard. But that was 20 years ago. Albanese has been “fixing the LNP/PHON mess” since 2022 — and the result under his watch is a software bug that wiped out 600+ Triple Zero calls, stopped trains, triggered hundreds of welfare checks, and may have killed someone. Blaming 1997–2006 ghosts while your government fails to enforce basic oversight on critical infrastructure today is pure deflection. Stop whitewashing another Labor failure, puppet.

  @CharlesSzulc Telstra will appear before a Senate inquiry into its outage, starting next Friday. Senator Henderson is involved in the (apparently ongoing) Optus one. It'll be be interesting if she now asks questions of Telstra, as will be forthcoming media reports.

  @Totally4yeah @PaulBongiorno Telstra is a PRIVATE CORPORATION not a govt institutuon. LNP with Hanson (Ind) in 1997.. partial sale & 2006 with PHON support.. FULL sale! That’s why it’s NOT a good idea to PRIVATISE VITAL INDUSTRIES (communications banks etc)! Labor STILL dealing with/fixing LNP/PHON MESS!
