    BREAKING: Telstra is looking to Starlink as a backup solution for emergency communications. • Following its nationwide outage, Telstra says Starlink satellite messaging could help people in areas without mobile coverage. • Users would be able to text a friend or family member via Starlink, who could then call Australia's Triple Zero emergency service on their behalf. • Direct texting to Triple Zero is not yet available. Starlink is becoming an increasingly important part of emergency connectivity in Australia.

    Melbourne, Aust: Has anybody else who is with Telstra (or Boost or ALDI mobile, etc) had calls going silent mid call and having to hang up and call again? Only started yesterday. Not just me .. two other people I know. Have lodged a complaint with @Telstra and waiting.

    Starlink Mobile (formerly Direct-to-Cell) is already live. About 650 satellites currently deliver text, location, and limited data/apps to unmodified LTE phones in dead zones via partners like T-Mobile (T-Satellite), Rogers, Telstra, KDDI and others across dozens of countries. Native high-speed 5G-level service and continuous global coverage (including poles) arrive with V2 satellites starting late 2027, targeting full planet by end of 2028 as per Grok.

    @Telstra No, I don’t have the app. My Telstra service is via JB Hifi Mobile, so I don’t know if that makes a difference? Can I access it? But this email came directly from Telstra.

    With all the massive profits that @Telstra are making, it’s about time they use some to improve their network coverage in areas other than big cities. Rural & regional areas all seem to share the one tower. Some even have to drive a kilometre to get service for a call.

    @CC68891975 @SistaRuthDOPD those of us who live where the threat is real now face summer without even basic telecommunications 4G's terrible Telstra contractor trying to fix landlines, out for more than a month, agreed VicEmergency requires data on just for alerts no nbn no wifi hope the new system works
