@woopdedoo652 @Telstra can you get someone who isn’t a robot to help the Unicorn out. Unicorn had a hailstorm destroy her fixed wireless. I don’t think doing a modem reboot is going to fix it ey.

@ChinaSelect Australia has had two major telecommunications network failures. As a result of the Telstra failure, three people died, including a baby. One person died as a result of the Optus failure. No infrastructure should have any exposure to foreign adversaries.

That's a wrap on @Techingov_AU in Canberra. Two consumer takeaways: new tech must work for everyone, not just the average user and trust in government services must be informed by consumers and measurable, including traceability of AI agents. Also a sharp breakdown of the Telstra outage from Frank den Hartog (Uni of Canberra). #TechinGov

@AuspiciousTimes @blu_boys @Optus Aldi uses “parts of the Telstra network “ if you read the fine details. Only Boost gives you access to the full Telstra network.

@7NewsSydney Great now she'll offshore even more Telstra workers under the guise of AI adoption so she can recoup some money for herself. Worst Telstra CEO ever..

  • BrentHodgson
    Brent Hodgson (@BrentHodgson) reported

@deborahbrian @aaronsmith @DHughesy Nor did the surpluses. Three-quarters of the $96 billion paid down under Howard (~$71.8bn) came from one-time public asset selloffs - including Telstra, Commonwealth Bank, DASFLEET, defence assets, Brisbane Airport, Melbourne Airport, Perth Airport, National Rail, Adelaide Airport, Darwin and Alice Springs Airports, Canberra Airport, Hobart Airport, the Australian Industry Development Corporation, Broadcast Australia (transmission towers)... A lot of those assets were sold at knock-down prices too - e.g. Broadcast Australia was sold at $650m, then the buyer sold it for twice that shortly after.

  • SenSHenderson
    Senator Sarah Henderson (@SenSHenderson) reported

Anika Wells’ claim 'the industry must learn from its mistakes' following a damning report into the catastrophic Telstra outage is not good enough.  The collapse of Telstra’s mobile network on 8 July this year caused chaos with payment systems, shut down train networks, and stopped some people calling triple zero. Mobile telecommunications networks are critical infrastructure.  That is why, on the day of the outage, the Coalition called on the government to urgently deliver mobile network reliability standards.  There must be appropriate minimum standards in place governing the reliability, performance, and maintenance of our mobile networks with significant penalties when those standards are breached.  Asking telcos to 'rebuild trust with Australians by ensuring networks do not succumb to preventable failures’, as the minister stated today, is like hitting the telcos with a piece of wet lettuce.  The minister’s silence on the need for a tougher regulatory framework is deafening.
