It's come down over the years but the convenience of an esim when travelling is pretty cool. Still expensive if you just use the Apple provider interface.

But this strikes me as a more basic error. That said, someone may have signed off on this as an acceptable risk. I can't say whether or not that was the right call but if it was, then expecting Telstra to own it is a bit unfair.

If our emergency communications and critical infrastructure are meant to be resilient, why do single network outages continue to have such widespread impacts? It’s time to review whether our redundancy is truly independent, or whether we’re relying on backups that share the same points of failure.

When I finally contacted Telstra at around 1pm, they said it was a planned outage. But then agreed it was same as Tues debacle. If it WAS planned they should have notified us. Just a smokescreen.
