crandle (@casimugh) reported from Melbourne, VictoriaOptus data hack reeks of a nerdy 14 year old that’s been banned from the PS4 so had to find entertainment elsewhere and accidentally got in trouble with his parents/the AFP
-
Claire 包玉思🏅🥈🥇🥉🥇🥇🥉🥇💉💉💉 (@AuspiciousTimes) reported from Melbourne, VictoriaBiggest surprise about @Optus disaster is they had customers. Poor support, woeful service. I took them to ombudsman twice about 11/12 years ago. They couldn't re-establish my phone connections for TWO MONTHS despite a simple word in code change as a fix. #PayCompensationOptus
-
Courtney (@Burgo0806) reported from Melbourne, Victoria@me_dc Yep me too! I haven’t been an Optus customer for 2 years!
-
Jonathon Nunan (@jonathonnunan) reported from Melbourne, Victoria@nadinevoncohen @patrickkeneally Only contact I've had from Optus has been apologies for our NBN dropping out. Which is roughly about ten times a day. But hey, who could have foreseen the copper technology solution not being up to the job?
-
Susanna (@suessaints) reported from Melbourne, Victoria@vicroads please change your rules re licence replacement. Optus customers should not have to wait for a fraud to occur to be allowed to change their driver’s licences! It’s bad enough to have the data breach. @DanielAndrewsMP @Optus 1/2
-
Winston Appleyard 🌈 (@WAppleyard) reported from Melbourne, Victoria@alisoncroggon As I am also an Optus customer I await..
-
John Ryan (@sitegeister) reported from Melbourne, VictoriaWhy should Optus pay fines? If you’re a customer, maybe retrospectively pay higher bills and ask for assurances and guarantee. They just did what any shareholder-driven multinational is actually tasked with doing.
-
⭐️⭐️⭐️Ceej⭐️⭐️⭐️ (@SeigeCeej) reported from Melbourne, Victoria@SammySatine As an Optus customer I am worried .. but I can change passwords and cancel things if I must and put blocks on all things
-
Wendi🔆Li (@WendyLiwendi) reported from Melbourne, Victoria@KateMannell As an Optus customer I’ve received their alert email but dunno what I as an individual could do 🥲
-
Cooper Everywhere All At Once 🧑🏼💻 (@CooperCodes) reported from Melbourne, Victoria@Amata_georgeii @Optus The number isn’t so much of an issue, it’s the rest of the information that got leaked. I’m changing because this is the second security breach they’ve had and this one is exceptionally bad.
-
Mick (@mikjcal) reported from Melbourne, VictoriaWatching the news I was reminded how in May I was on a road trip through country Victoria. I was given **** cause my phone didn’t have signal, and I had to beg to hotspot for a bit. “Just go with Optus” one said - well, I’m glad I ignored that advice and stayed with Vodafone🤭
-
Constantinos Lambrou (@CostaLambrou) reported from Melbourne, Victoria@cokeefe9 @Raf_Epstein @9NewsAUS They can do whatever they want, if I anybody is hacked it’s insurance issue between the bank and Optus
-
𝚜𝚝𝚒𝚛𝚕𝚘.𝚜𝚙𝚊𝚌e (@stirlospace) reported from Melbourne, Victoria@OccupyMyGov Optus is already a pejorative here at Our House “oh no my phone has gone all optus’y” @infinitereality hopefully an actual isP or someone who can deploy a real network can take over once ACCC are done. False “5G” and “internet” ads 🤥 LYINN.
-
Cooper Everywhere All At Once 🧑🏼💻 (@CooperCodes) reported from Melbourne, Victoria@Amata_georgeii @Optus Yeah I’m gonna try reissue my DL number and cancel my Passport so they don’t connect to anything. Other than that it’s a mess
-
Adam Jobbins (@ajobbins) reported from Melbourne, Victoria@seemsforever Yeah, I've been the information risk owner of large, externally facing systems like this and it's the nightmare situation. But reading how the hack was done, it's crazy that Optus didn't know about this vulnerability, or if they did and didn't fix it....😬
-
Shane Bryan (@ShaneBryan_IT) reported from Melbourne, VictoriaI think better wording is needed for the #optus incident. My understanding is that it wasn’t a hack, it wasn’t a breach, nor an attack & that the data was leaked through incompetence. I’m still reading articles about it mentioning terms such as “firewall” in ways implying a hack.
-
Michael (@mflbg) reported from Melbourne, Victoria@DrKate_Miller @emmaandollie @Optus I’m an ex customer from 2 years ago and my data was in the hack. What should I ask for as compensation?
-
doc eggbert (@doc_eggbert) reported from Melbourne, Victoria@Telstra What kind of offers you got for @optus customers who were hacked? #OptusHack Been a loyal customer 12 years (3 x phones). Jumping ship coz it can happen again.

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:
-
🧔🏻♂️ m i k e (@gomikestevens) reported@LoFlyt @woopdedoo652 @Optus Just feel like they could move that **** offline, but eh, I'm no cyber genius.
-
Steph 🦖🦕 🧜🏻♀️ (@GivenToRant) reportedYo @Optus, as a former customer who've you've informed has had data compromised, you gonna clarify what personal infomation was actually taken? Who do I speak to about finding out exactly what it is that's been compromised? Or can you just send me a copy of my 'file' as it were?
-
HelloSammyG (@HelloSammyG) reported@JakeSmethurst3 Agree! It’s so vague and not direct it says “may” & what happens if someone does have their data used and are compromised will optus take responsibility? Communication from optus is terrible even if we leave it doesn’t change the immediate situation - although I’m already looking
-
Maccadvert (@maccadvert) reported@rpcounat @SenSHenderson @AlboMP Optus is totally incompetent, if you have any problem, you can speak to a machine that does not always understand so the game of reframing your issue begins. This is the absolute truth the conversation with a machine can take hours like 5-8 … awful
-
Tweedlebeetle 🍀☮️🕉🌻🐕🐾💃🏼 (@Tweedlebeetle) reported@kcarruthers As a recipient of the Optus ‘your data has been compromised” letter, there is an apology but no follow up advice. Very poor response. Obviously amateur hour over there. @Optus #OptusHack
-
Musical Theatre Geek (@Moldick1) reported@sassycarrie @JaneoOakley @Optus Ughhh They should still be able to cancel it at their end But the card’s cancelled right?? I’d be completely cancelling and getting an entire new number That’s what we had to do when our credit card info was stolen and used to buy $30000 worth of sewing machines in the UK 😳
-
Capital (@Brisbane4000) reportedI was working at #Optus when the prepaid mobile service started. New customers could buy 'starter kits', only a sim card, without providing any identification. Police eventually demanded ID to be collected and stored due to crime investigations being hindered by burner phones.
-
EnRagedPanda (@raged_panda) reported@DollsAreCreepy @arielbogle Wtf has happened, i see all this Optus **** im here like 🫤
-
Plucky (@Plucky16221611) reported@10NewsFirstAdl Problem, reaction, solution. Expect new legislation designed to "solve" the problem and take away more freedom. Real solution, class action against Optus for damages, due to security ineptitude. Sue banks and government for making us use insecure devices.
-
Musical Theatre Geek (@Moldick1) reported@sassycarrie @JaneoOakley @Optus That’s not true You can cancel direct debit at the bank end Go into a branch tomorrow
