Dear @Optus it’s been a good 25 years. But, you’re testing us on our changeover to @NBN_Australia Still no internet & 3 no show tech appointments to connect our FTTC so far. Tired of waiting for a tech who never turns up. Now considering what other options are available to us 😕

@brisbalife @silas_pc Oh nope, it was just customer information for the Optus hack. Nothing more. I was just joking

@mjrowland68 I am old Optus customer who got the email over the weekend! What happens if ID stolen and a massive loan is taken out plus numerous credit cards then all defaulted on?

@bluyonda @nameshiv My mum cancelled Optus ages ago because of stuff around during broadband rollout, but they were really bad about just closing the account, so she still gets weird not-bills. She got the email about details release, so I suspect it might include ex-customers too.

@vicroads please change your rules re licence replacement. Optus customers should not have to wait for a fraud to occur to be allowed to change their driver’s licences! It’s bad enough to have the data breach. @DanielAndrewsMP @Optus 1/2

@BTCSchellingPt @ODELL @Optus Oh wow. That's bad on another level.

@abcnews No condemning Optus for serious breach of security, poor risk management? In fact Optus was praised for pacifying disgruntled customers. Is that how standards of accountability has sunk that low in Aus? The people's personal details can be used illegally for decades to come

@_davidlimbrick Well done. You've somehow twisted the Optus hack (under the federal LNP watch) into an argument to support crazy cooker logic.

@ODELL Appears that there was no hack at all; @optus left the API endpoint entirely unauthenticated, and each customer's unique endpoint was their customer number. A simple incremental integer. Optus exposed every customer's PII publicly without authentication.. Not hacked: exposed.
