    @AntoBeck @Optus Damn. I did not get this. 😭

  • sitegeister John Ryan (@sitegeister) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

Why should Optus pay fines? If you’re a customer, maybe retrospectively pay higher bills and ask for assurances and guarantee. They just did what any shareholder-driven multinational is actually tasked with doing.

  • CostaLambrou Constantinos Lambrou (@CostaLambrou) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@cokeefe9 @Raf_Epstein @9NewsAUS They can do whatever they want, if I anybody is hacked it’s insurance issue between the bank and Optus

  • CooperCodes Cooper Everywhere All At Once 🧑🏼‍💻 (@CooperCodes) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@Amata_georgeii @Optus The number isn’t so much of an issue, it’s the rest of the information that got leaked. I’m changing because this is the second security breach they’ve had and this one is exceptionally bad.

  • WAppleyard Winston Appleyard 🌈 (@WAppleyard) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@alisoncroggon As I am also an Optus customer I await..

  • danielbowen Daniel Bowen (@danielbowen) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

I was an Optus broadband customer until 2019. No contact from them yet. Wondering if I’m safe or not.

  • casimugh crandle (@casimugh) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

Optus data hack reeks of a nerdy 14 year old that’s been banned from the PS4 so had to find entertainment elsewhere and accidentally got in trouble with his parents/the AFP

  • tmwwthere Andrew Watson (@tmwwthere) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

10am yesterday @Optus told me over the phone that my info wasn’t caught up in the breach. By the end of the day I received an email saying my info has been breached. No way of trusting #optus - haven’t been a customer of theirs since 2018. @SlaterGordon bring on the class action

  • nick_komo Niko (@nick_komo) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@MrXBob @Matt92644813 @9NewsMelb Hmm i would of thought CEOs on the big bucks had some influence into important decisions. Anyway you are getting a bit too aggressive for a non optus customer. So move on 🙋 #OptusHack

  • CooperCodes Cooper Everywhere All At Once 🧑🏼‍💻 (@CooperCodes) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@VicRoads @VicGovDoT Just change the license numbers please and issue new ones. And charge that back to Optus thanks.

  • jonathonnunan Jonathon Nunan (@jonathonnunan) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@nadinevoncohen @patrickkeneally Only contact I've had from Optus has been apologies for our NBN dropping out. Which is roughly about ten times a day. But hey, who could have foreseen the copper technology solution not being up to the job?

  • stirlospace 𝚜𝚝𝚒𝚛𝚕𝚘.𝚜𝚙𝚊𝚌e (@stirlospace) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@OccupyMyGov Optus is already a pejorative here at Our House “oh no my phone has gone all optus’y” @infinitereality hopefully an actual isP or someone who can deploy a real network can take over once ACCC are done. False “5G” and “internet” ads 🤥 LYINN.

  • WendyLiwendi Wendi🔆Li (@WendyLiwendi) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@KateMannell As an Optus customer I’ve received their alert email but dunno what I as an individual could do 🥲

  • SeigeCeej ⭐️⭐️⭐️Ceej⭐️⭐️⭐️ (@SeigeCeej) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@SammySatine As an Optus customer I am worried .. but I can change passwords and cancel things if I must and put blocks on all things

  • mikjcal Mick (@mikjcal) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

Watching the news I was reminded how in May I was on a road trip through country Victoria. I was given **** cause my phone didn’t have signal, and I had to beg to hotspot for a bit. “Just go with Optus” one said - well, I’m glad I ignored that advice and stayed with Vodafone🤭

  • karan_white_ Karan White 🌱 (@karan_white_) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@mjrowland68 @BreakfastNews I'm an @Optus customer, but not for much longer. Haven't had any additional comms beyond the initial email.

  • suessaints Susanna (@suessaints) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@vicroads please change your rules re licence replacement. Optus customers should not have to wait for a fraud to occur to be allowed to change their driver’s licences! It’s bad enough to have the data breach. @DanielAndrewsMP @Optus 1/2

  • Brodhe B (@Brodhe) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

If you are, or if you hypothetically would have been, an Optus customer, how worried about the data breach are you?

  • AuspiciousTimes Claire 包玉思🏅🥈🥇🥉🥇🥇🥉🥇💉💉💉 (@AuspiciousTimes) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

Biggest surprise about @Optus disaster is they had customers. Poor support, woeful service. I took them to ombudsman twice about 11/12 years ago. They couldn't re-establish my phone connections for TWO MONTHS despite a simple word in code change as a fix. #PayCompensationOptus

  • CooperCodes Cooper Everywhere All At Once 🧑🏼‍💻 (@CooperCodes) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@Amata_georgeii @Optus Yeah I’m gonna try reissue my DL number and cancel my Passport so they don’t connect to anything. Other than that it’s a mess

Optus Issues Reports

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:

  • PreemptiveCyber Preemptive Cyber Security (@PreemptiveCyber) reported

Optus has suffered a security breach that it says may have compromised various customer data, including dates of birth, email addresses and passport numbers. Information belonging to both current and former customers of the AU mobile operator are impacted in the security incident

  • kity_katz Lady Raven (@kity_katz) reported

@RoyceRk2 @pharnzwurth The Optus 133 937 customer service number has a recorded message saying they'll be 'reaching out' to customers whose data has been subject to unauthorised access. While we wait, it would be good to know how long Optus keeps former customers' data. 1-2 years? Longer?

  • isaacafrica_ Isaac Africa (@isaacafrica_) reported

In a press release on Thursday, Optus stated that an unknown amount of customer names, dates of birth, phone numbers, email addresses, residences, and identity document numbers, including license or passport numbers, were stolen.

  • SwinginOnAStarr •.¸¸♡ ﹩∀ღღ¥ •.¸¸♡ (@SwinginOnAStarr) reported

@SenSHenderson @AlboMP Ok Sarah, what tougher laws do you want? Also, you know with the speed of technology that as soon as a law is passed there’s a new way to hack, right? I’m an Optus customer and I appreciate just how hard cyber security is. What new laws exactly do you think will fix this?

  • Shiba131300 Bill (@Shiba131300) reported

@Optus @RunnerSA18 Hi @Optus well today I have received emails and messages saying I have a new voice mail I’m smart enough not to open these. But it’s strange I have never received anything like this before and now I am. Oh also thanks for letting your customers know wants going on. By email NOT

  • Thefinnigans Finnigans 💉💉💉💉💉天有道地有道人无道 (@Thefinnigans) reported

If Optus left its "test network" open, then it wasn't a "hack". In the olden days, we in the IT Security called it a giant SNAFU

  • johnb78 John B (@johnb78) reported

Weird how many people think the Optus breach is mainly Optus's fault for doing the stupid thing that the government made it do, rather than mainly the government's fault for making Optus do a stupid thing (all systems can be hacked; the way to keep data safe is not to store it)

  • Mephiston Mephiston (@Mephiston) reported

@annaRoseShadow @Asher_Wolf Fun fact, take this information to your local optus store. I was directed to my local optus store for contract cancellation and the support guy said "they will talk to you about compensation". I'm going to demand an immediate end to my contract and waiving the payout fee.

  • InfGraeme Graeme clark (@InfGraeme) reported

@MRowlandMP @ljayes Maybe if you held organisation’s like @optus to account for allowing the dissemination of customer details there would not be as many successful scams … time for the #optus executive team and board to be held accountable … #auspol

  • pauliec80859931 PaulieC (@pauliec80859931) reported

@ralph_woolf @Optus My dad ditched Optus a couple of months ago & moved to Aldi Mobile (who use the Telstra network) & has saved 50% + gets better reception.
