Optus Issues Reports Near Melbourne, State of Victoria

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in Melbourne and nearby locations:

  • CooperCodes Cooper Everywhere All At Once 🧑🏼‍💻 (@CooperCodes) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@Amata_georgeii @Optus The number isn’t so much of an issue, it’s the rest of the information that got leaked. I’m changing because this is the second security breach they’ve had and this one is exceptionally bad.

  • mflbg Michael (@mflbg) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@DrKate_Miller @emmaandollie @Optus I’m an ex customer from 2 years ago and my data was in the hack. What should I ask for as compensation?

  • CooperCodes Cooper Everywhere All At Once 🧑🏼‍💻 (@CooperCodes) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

Optus and Qantas really fighting for that “worst company in Australia” award.

  • doc_eggbert doc eggbert (@doc_eggbert) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@Telstra What kind of offers you got for @optus customers who were hacked? #OptusHack Been a loyal customer 12 years (3 x phones). Jumping ship coz it can happen again.

  • CooperCodes Cooper Everywhere All At Once 🧑🏼‍💻 (@CooperCodes) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@Amata_georgeii @Optus Yeah I’m gonna try reissue my DL number and cancel my Passport so they don’t connect to anything. Other than that it’s a mess

  • EmJaeCaer Michael Carmody (@EmJaeCaer) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@riskybusiness Just in time for the Optus breach to be released. We need to end your reign of terror Patrick, our incident responders can only take so much.

  • ajobbins Adam Jobbins (@ajobbins) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@seemsforever Yeah, I've been the information risk owner of large, externally facing systems like this and it's the nightmare situation. But reading how the hack was done, it's crazy that Optus didn't know about this vulnerability, or if they did and didn't fix it....😬

  • CooperCodes Cooper Everywhere All At Once 🧑🏼‍💻 (@CooperCodes) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@VicRoads @VicGovDoT Just change the license numbers please and issue new ones. And charge that back to Optus thanks.

  • ShaneBryan_IT Shane Bryan (@ShaneBryan_IT) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

I think better wording is needed for the #optus incident. My understanding is that it wasn’t a hack, it wasn’t a breach, nor an attack & that the data was leaked through incompetence. I’m still reading articles about it mentioning terms such as “firewall” in ways implying a hack.

  • WAppleyard Winston Appleyard 🌈 (@WAppleyard) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@alisoncroggon As I am also an Optus customer I await..

  • Burgo0806 Courtney (@Burgo0806) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@me_dc Yep me too! I haven’t been an Optus customer for 2 years!

BROKEN NEWS:: John Barilaro to be appointed as OPTUS Head of Cyber Security.

  • supremeturnip Matt (@supremeturnip) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@Optus My expectations you would help were low. Mainly posted as a warning to potential new customers of Optus so they know to stay away. In the absence of your helping in the multiple avenues of inquiry I’ll be passing to the TIO (since this includes potential over billing for 2 years)

  • suessaints Susanna (@suessaints) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@vicroads please change your rules re licence replacement. Optus customers should not have to wait for a fraud to occur to be allowed to change their driver’s licences! It’s bad enough to have the data breach. @DanielAndrewsMP @Optus 1/2

  • jonathonnunan Jonathon Nunan (@jonathonnunan) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@nadinevoncohen @patrickkeneally Only contact I've had from Optus has been apologies for our NBN dropping out. Which is roughly about ten times a day. But hey, who could have foreseen the copper technology solution not being up to the job?

  • GlennHampson Glenn Hampson (@GlennHampson) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

I take my Optus email is part of the data hack given the **** emails and sms that have risen significantly in the past 48 hours

  • bazhousecat Baz (@bazhousecat) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

If we’ve learnt anything from the Optus debacle, it’s that you should never hire Gladys Berejiklian for anything.

  • enespana1 enespana (@enespana1) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@Asher_Wolf @Bredgens @wheelswordsmith I msg Optus on their help platform - they have automated message saying there is delay in responding. Then they message 15min later repeating question and asking to confirm. Then they close the conversation when I don’t respond within a couple of minutes. Happened 2x already🙄

  • Stanleysmum1 Stanleysmum (Sharon) (@Stanleysmum1) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@Optus I've received one email from Optus (My bill) and today have (so far) had 15 spam/robocallers. All reported but how bad will this get before you take action. What guarantees will you put in place to ensure my passport and licence details aren't sold off to the highest bidder?

  • shiraj_sen Shiraj Sen (@shiraj_sen) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

Hey @Optus having internet issues and tried calling you guys but your technical support department is closed? What the? Can you please get back to me asap so I can have my internet back? #optusfail

Optus Issues Reports

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:

  • soyahoy1 soyahoy (@soyahoy1) reported

@Optus I've been trying to get help for 3 days. No one replying on the chat app. This is ridiculous. Nothing but problems with Optus!

  • brittfacee Brittany (@brittfacee) reported

@antivolone @Optus Had the same issue the other day with the chat. Apparently you have to go on the website not be logged into your account to get a reply on there. It worked but it makes zero sense

  • Green_Girl100 DrGreenie Sedai (@Green_Girl100) reported

@sallyrugg @Optus Ikr? I **** you not. I got one the same day I got my data breach email.

  • MellyMelihssa Jas (@MellyMelihssa) reported

@Optus Yes, no thank you. Optus have done enough 'verifying'. I'll have to be on high alert for a long time. I'm part of the 10% that left. Hopefully they lose more customers and it's shut down, like they deserve.

  • mcdonellaussie mark mcdonell 🐅🐅🏆 (@mcdonellaussie) reported from Numurkah, State of Victoria

@3AW693 So @VicRoads if I was an Optus customer who was told by Optus my license number was stolen (accessed) I do not need to do anything & you will automatically send me a sticker this year and a new license next year! I have no need to now access Vic Roads to request new license!

  • ElMuggs Muggs (@ElMuggs) reported

@Optus I used to be a privacy officer. There is ZERO reason to hold that information of a ex-customer for over two years - let alone over five!

  • sjb_one Steve Brennan 🐘🐳 (@sjb_one) reported

@cheryl_kernot The response from the Optus CEO was pathetic. I was impacted by this. Having received their email I had questions, but never received a reply. Never received an update and canceled the service. The guy asked me why! He was rude and cut the service as I spoke to him..
