@optus HUGE MASSIVE THANK YOU for being the provider that got our NBN installed in less than 2 weeks. No text messages back and forth for 6 weeks just amazing service! @Telstra you need to take a leaf out of their book 6 weeks of bullshit vs 2 weeks and NBN installed #yesoptus

@TGUZ72 @Optus That’s one thing about hiring people to provide front line support when they are not adequately equipped to work through issues. Sometimes that will result in someone letting out more information than they should.

@ParamountPlusAU @lfc2379 Umm. Problem. Apple TV's don't have a web browser, how can I watch this game on my apple TV. Also, your excuse for lack of apple TV support is unfounded when I watch many other live sporting matches with other apps on Apple TV. 10play and Optus sports have no issues.

@OptusNewsRoom I ordered a SIM card online on the 25/09/20. The Optus site says 3/5 business days delivery time. Optus can you tell me should your advertising be 30/50 business days delivery?? It’s the 12/10/20??? 🤬 WTF

@Optus so we are now into week 3 of no service to my Apple Watch and no idea when this will be fixed even though I have had a tech unpair my watch many times, many attempts and trips to the store and 2 new sims... what’s the plan @Optus move back to @VodafoneAU

  • fanaticeel

@peter__kay It's truly appalling. And due to present laws passed by the previous govt Optus won't be fined! However that doesn't help what happened. I haven't been with optus since 96.. hmm I should be ok

@Optus Hi Aaron. I would love to use the app but your system now has the wrong date of birth for me after 20 years as a customer. And when I finally got through on Thursday and did my ID check - no problem. Something wrong with your app.

Bloody hell #Optus 6 ads in a row in a subscription service is beyond reasonable. All the ads were for your own products.

@TheSportsFreak @OptusStadium That’s really poor I did agree with your point about the WACA the only tests that should be played at Optus are Ashes and India They probably should have given perth a South African tests given the expat population as well

  • JamesCridland
James Cridland (@JamesCridland) reported from Brisbane, Queensland

@Yeahbutnaahh @Optus Optus informed me last week that my Australian passport number has been compromised. Narrator: James didn't have an Australian passport when he was an Optus customer. He is confused.

  • NTEUQldDivSec
Michael McNally (@NTEUQldDivSec) reported from Brisbane, Queensland

Absolute crap service from @Optus “more than an hour and so we won’t be dealing with your call today”. #optusfail Yasmin got through and they wouldn’t let her just report the fault even though she has an @Optus account at same address. Complete failure of their outsourcing model

  • PagewoodCoach
Rubens Camejo (@PagewoodCoach) reported from Brisbane, Queensland

@MelbInvest @nyunggai @HelloMakkaPakka Yes & no. If you work for Optus but doing the praises of Telstra you're going to get sacked. In effect Kitching was sacked To fix it? Requires a referendum. Factions are funded by outside interests unions businesses, individuals with an agenda etc. That's hard to remove NEXT

@QBCCIntegrity Australians are now being subjected to more and more data breaches. I have friends with Optus and Energex who are at a loss as to what to do. Bank details, card details, DOB. Banks cancel your cards in times of dispute. Direct debits are affected. Constant crimes against us all.

  • EaglestatsNW
Eagles. Stats and random. (@EaglestatsNW) reported

It's not possible for that to happen. I think not quite as bad as at Optus, both require a full clearing of the decks across the whole club. This isn't a rebuild in culture which is clearly what's required. It's just collecting players & not making them gel

  • RazeBannon
    BRODA (@RazeBannon) reported

@BritishHodl Grok can an ISP block voice over IP? Yes, ISPs can block Voice over IP (VoIP) traffic at their network level, and many do so in practice. This is technically feasible using tools like port blocking, deep packet inspection (DPI), and other traffic management techniques. How ISPs Block VoIP ISPs control the core network infrastructure, so they can inspect and filter traffic before it reaches customers. Common methods include: Port-based blocking**: Traditional VoIP often uses specific ports like UDP 5060/5061 for SIP (signaling) and a range of ports (e.g., 10000–20000) for RTP (media/voice). ISPs can simply drop traffic on these ports. Deep Packet Inspection (DPI)**: This examines not just headers but packet contents, signatures, packet sizes, timing, and protocol behavior to identify VoIP even if it uses non-standard ports or obfuscation. DPI can dynamically detect and block SIP, RTP, or app-specific patterns (e.g., Skype, WhatsApp calls). IP address or domain blacklisting**: Blocking known servers of VoIP providers. Protocol anomaly detection or traffic shaping**: Dropping or throttling UDP-heavy, low-latency streams typical of voice calls. Real-World Examples Certain countries and carriers (e.g., in the Middle East, Morocco, Philippines, or places with state telecom monopolies) block VoIP to protect traditional phone revenue or for regulatory reasons. Mobile providers like Optus 4G or others have blocked SIP traffic. Corporate/school networks or bandwidth-limited ISPs sometimes block or deprioritize VoIP to conserve resources. China has historically blocked VoIP, though workarounds emerged over time. Limitations and Challenges for Complete Blocking Encryption and obfuscation**: Modern VoIP (e.g., over WebRTC, HTTPS, or apps like Signal/WhatsApp) is harder to detect reliably. DPI isn't foolproof against randomized ports, variable packet patterns, or VPN-like wrapping. VPNs and tunnels**: Users can often bypass blocks by routing traffic through a VPN, which encrypts and hides the VoIP signature. Evasion techniques**: Providers and users adapt with port hopping, STUN/TURN servers, or proxies. False positives**: Overly aggressive blocking can disrupt other UDP-based services (gaming, video streaming). Complete, unbreakable blocking is difficult long-term without also harming general internet performance, but partial or effective blocking for most users is very achievable. Why ISPs Do This Reasons include protecting legacy telephony revenue, complying with regulations, managing bandwidth, reducing congestion, or enforcing content policies. In summary, yes—ISPs have both the capability and precedent for blocking VoIP, primarily via DPI and port controls, though motivated users can often circumvent it. If you're dealing with a specific ISP or scenario, details could help narrow down options.

@Optus The reason I ask is my account is now overdue by 8 days, I'm able to pay the bill in 2 days in full however when asking for help or letting optus know of concerns with overdue accounts and financial difficulties the automatic payment system set up on this account restricts the help i can ask for online
