  • RitaZonius Rita Zonius SCMP (@RitaZonius) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@Victor_Li94 @Optus I’ve experienced an intermittent Optus internet outage all weekend. I’m in 3040. After troubleshooting everything yesterday I was advised this morning it’s an outage in my area. I’d really like to know if it will be fixed today. Distance learning and work needs to go on tomorrow.

  • elee_bella Ella Lee (@elee_bella) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

I pay an extra $5 for unlimited streaming certain apps, but of them only stream ABC iView. I otherwise only stream from free to air apps, mostly SBS on demand within my 30GB per month data limit. Optus never clarified what the charges were for, and still expecting me to pay it.

  • VitoCDoria Vito Doria (@VitoCDoria) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@Optus The internet signal is very poor and it has been since last night. When using the NBN in Reservoir, the speeds are very slow or the internet might even drop out at times. Your website says that there are some problems in my area but it has been 12 hours.

So where is this hundreds of millions of dollars in fines for Optus @ClareONeilMP? Surely we're not morons with a low limited number right? For a major corporation who leaked around 40% of the Australian population's information? We're not that stupid right? #optus #optushack

  • wjafarrow James (@wjafarrow) reported

@TMRQld @Optus Great, so basically no way to prevent a crime that could destroy my financial life and cause untold issues when that data is confirmed stolen through no fault of my own. So I need to be the victim of a crime... And this could be done with a few keystrokes. Why do I pay taxes?

  • wordstoprint 💧Wordstoprint - Robert Johnson (@wordstoprint) reported

@joshgnosis My experience with Optus last Friday and today; Buy SIM card for mobile broadband Friday. Called tech support today to sort out email. Got told to go to store for I’d verification. I live outside the Barossa. Drove 40min to Nuriootpa, told store to close 3pm. Jeez...

  • LlordLloyd Peter Lloyd (@LlordLloyd) reported

The @Optus situation is perfectly demonstrating the reason I can't support nuclear power in Australia. Large companies enjoy complete immunity from consequences for failure and negligence.

  • kels_316 Adam (@kels_316) reported

@wheelswordsmith ABB dont provide any pers info to Optus so the issue didn't hit ABB customers

  • LevonJP Levon J Polinelli (@LevonJP) reported

@abc730 @ClareONeilMP 7 months dealing with @Optus incompetence, brought in the Ombudsman and finally fees waived for their gross errors, only for them to pass it on to debt collectors when I changed providers. Took them til today to notify my all my data was leaked. They don’t deserve to operate.

  • KateA_au Kate A (@KateA_au) reported

I have been an Optus customer for 6 years. I keep hearing about emails being sent to Optus customers whose data has been compromised, but I haven’t received one. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing?

  • Jeremy_Kirk Jeremy Kirk (@Jeremy_Kirk) reported

Optus is offering a 12-month subscription to Equifax Protect, an ID and credit monitoring service, to the "most affected" customers. That's not long enough. Driver's license, passport numbers and other data is valid for much longer than that. #OptusHack #auspol

  • mrickards1 Michael Rickards (@mrickards1) reported

@abc730 @ClareONeilMP OPTUS security and privacy protections have been poor for a very long time. I left Optus some years ago because of this. A person who knew I had an account readily impersonated me and hacked just by knowing my name, address, date of birth, despite an account PIN number.

  • mikebuttery Creatyr the Tiler (@mikebuttery) reported

@DamBusterPrest @manjusrii It’s not a cyberattack. Optus devs opened all the information up to the internet and it was scraped using sequential customer IDs. - Why no encryption? - Why no authorisation? - Why no hashed customer IDs? - Why was a test system using production database? Customer first - nah
